Graduation Plans anyone?

Before many of the posters here realize it, the graduation from nursing school will be here and so will the plans for a job. So what are many of the new grads planning. Any really good offers out there for new grads? I have spoken will some of the girls who will be graduating in May from Tech and they are less than happy with the offers from CAMC. A couple are thinking of looking at WVU for jobs and further education. Others are looking to the beach ofcourse. But some are just plain without a plan. Any input?

Bah I went right to work at a nursing home when I graduated. I consistently hear good things in the Huntington area, Charleston area--not so much.

Yes, it seems that Huntington is getting better and Charleston is not doing so good. I wonder what plans and dreams these new grads have? I remember how most of my class wanted to go on to CRNA or obtain a master's degree. Not many have.

I have 2 more semesters after this one before I graduate, but I think I decided the other day that I want to be an OR nurse. I saw an open heart surgery. It was the coolest thing I have ever witnessed.

I am getting married in June. The future wifie and I are planning to head to Florida for a couple of years.

Hi Yogi, Sounds like a plan to me. Good luck on the marriage. My friends son moved to Fla. after he graduated from UC about 6 years ago. He says it was good for him, later another son went down there and they started a business on the side. She plans on moving once the last son finishes school. The older boys are in respiratory and xray. Both have gotten advanced training and are doing really well. The older one married about 2 years ago, his wife is from Ga. Says she loves to come here in the winter and see the snow but will never live here. The side business was lawn care they learned from their Dad. They said they got all of their customers from the hospital, lots of docs and such.
Anyway, keep on plugging. Being an OR nurse, especially cardiac, can be demanding but very rewarding. Good luck.
