Do externships exist in WV

I'm a student at D&E (small school in west virginia) and I'm almost done with my 1st yr of nursing. I've checked with a lot of hospitals around the area and went to nursing career day hoping to have some luck with externships and found none (most have already hired)!! I was hoping someone out there could possibly help me find somewhere to work over the summer b/c i think experience is CRITICAL!! So somebody please throw me a life line!!
