Hi champ01,
\
It has been a long time since I talked with any student from U of C, but ...very pricey. Teachers used to top of line, not so much anymore. Pass rate is not as good as used to be. CAMC supports school's program more than any other program, but CAMC has a few problems these days, so not sure they are as supportative now. Students do not seem to get pushed in clinicals, and by pushed I mean to gain skills, not just paperwork. Last U of C students I had lots of contact with needed lots of help with even basic skills, they told the preceptors, instructors would not allow them to cath, start IV, or do any type of invasive care because they were too afraid students would make a mistake and instructors license would be disciplined. WVU, Marshall, Logan, AB, Fairmont, and Salem seem to have some good programs. Tech is still so/so. Mountain State is pricey too.

Now that I have sounded very negative, let me assure you that there are some very good nurses from U of C, and the bottom line is how committed you are to your experience in school. Lots of floor nurses will allow you to watch them do things and even help, doctors will give you instruction if you show interest, monitor techs and even CNA's are great sources of knowledge.

I wish you luck.

Check out Southern's campus in Institute. Much cheaper with better NCLEX passage rates. My personal opinion is this, I would not pay 40,000+ for a RN degree. Actually I wouldnt pay more than 25,000.
