Any one wprk at Ruby?

Sorry to be so slow in responding. Also, I don't really know a heck of a lot about HR stuff. But I think casual refers to anything under 0.5 FTE (<20 hrs/week). 0.5 and above is a permanent, part-time position.
Judging by the rumor mill, there have been changes, lately, in the per-diem positions. I think you contract for a pod of some sort, where you agree to work shifts in several related units. I believe you get to say what days you are available for, but aren't guaranteed to get them. My impression is that they're wanting to keep per-diem to a minimum.
I know that's pretty vague, and I can't promise it isn't at least half wrong.
I'd suggest contacting HR for some actual answers. Hospital information could connect you to HR. I think they're there 8-4:30, M-F. But I could be wrong about that, too. Also, there's probably a website.
Gosh, I feel like such a model employee.

On second thought, I'm not sure giving the hospital's phone number is appropriate under allnurses' TOS. Probably okay, but you can PM me for it, if you like. Feeling a bit like a model moderator, too.

I guess they are trying to cut back on using contract agency nurses! A friend of mine did a travel nurse position there on the neuro floor and loved it.

I thought for sure that Ruby would be the one facility in this state that would never need to use travelers or agency. I have always heard it was the best place to work in the panhandle. Who knows.

All I can say is that my friend worked there for 2.5 years as a traveler but this was 8 years ago too...so who knows

I can recall meeting one or two travellers over the last ten years. There are a several people working per diem, but not a lot, and they sometimes don't get the hours they want. Just lately, it seems like we are having staffing issues fairly regularly, so picking up time per diem might not be so difficult. But I think they do avoid agency nurses. Too expensive.
Honestly, I think Ruby is a good place to work. I did clinicals in school at UHC, in Clarksburg, and at Fairmont General and Mon General, and they didn't seem bad, either.

I did my clinicals at Ruby and am interviewing for a job there. I graduate in August and want ED, ICU. ED is not interviewing now for August but ICU is so I am going for it. I have an interview with the dept scheduled.
Most everyone I have spoken to that works there likes it alot. Several fellow students have been techs or externs there and are looking forward to working there when they graduate.

Sister has an on going relationship with Ruby d/t brain tumor, she had surgery, nonmalignant, but some scary stuff was going on in her head, I can honestly say I was very happy and continue to be well satisfied with her care there. You will get some good experience there if you are willing to take advantage of what they offer. I did notice that most of her nurses were older. Sometimes age just gives you the little extra you need to stay calm and handle a situation that causes stress in younger, less

I'm really happy to read this post. It's always nice to hear about a happy patient with a good outcome.
We've had a bit of a dip in morale, lately, but I think a lot of it has been due to conversion to computer charting, which is putting a lot of stress on our more experienced nurses. That's improving as people adjust. There are other issues, too, but I figure there are issues wherever you go. If it was all fun, all the time, we'd have to pay them. So, on the whole, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ruby as a good place to work. (The new charting probably won't be as much of a problem, if you aren't already used to the old way.)

I should probably do our annual employee satisfaction survey while I'm in a good mood. But I think I'll wait until Monday morning. Gotta keep the suits on their toes.
