Hi everyone!

My last experience as a Nurse was March 2010 and I'm starting my Refresher course next week at Bellevue College.I am an international graduate and have passed NCLEX last october.Since then I applied everywhere and got a single call back from long term care (Providence Spokane).I've applied for residencies,LTC's,hospitals name it,but no such luck.I just want to ask if the refresher will improve my CV and If anybody had same experience as mine.Thank you again!

Hello Mrsmay! I hope you are well. I would just like know how your nurse refresher program at Bellevue College go? And aft completion, did it help better your employment opportunities with hospitals? I hope you can please share your experience so I would have an idea too as I plan to apply for BC's refresher program too. Thank you and I look forward for your feedback.

I think it should be helpful. Choose a clinical site you want to work at. Net working. Work hard while doing your clinical. Take advantage of the clinical rotation in the hospitals and let your preceptors and nurse managers know that you are looking for jobs. If you can't get a hospital job first, get a job in LTC, home care, or LTAC (e.g.,Kindred hospital). After 6 months or 1 year experience, you are more likely to get call back from hospital jobs.

I took a refresher course when I returned to nursing after a long stretch off. The course was ok.

What I used the course for in job interviews is that it showed my determination and commitment to my personal nursing excellence. Worked for me... Eventually .
