UW BSN Fall 2011

U.S.A. Washington

Published

I am planning on applying this year for Fall 2011 BSN at UW, although I doubt I'll be competitive due to my lack of healthcare experience. I'll have a bit over 100 hours by the time the application is due, but in more than one setting. I'm sort of just planning to go through the motions this year so I know what to expect the following year. Also A&P is kicking my butt this quarter so I probably won't end up with an A :( . Anyone else applying?

Hello everyone!

I am glad to see a few more of you have found your way to this thread (although I think a part of me was secretly hoping that only myself and Rachel had applied this year ;)). Personally I thought the math part was fairly easy, once I stopped to think about it. I had the first one wrong at first (I guess due to nerves) but I went back and checked my work and my mistake was obvious. I've never taken any dosage calculation courses, but it seemed like division/multiplication to me. I could have done them wrong though I guess

How much did you guys talk about the health issues of your patient? I only talked about it briefly and I had a feeling that is not going to go well for me. I feel like I focused on my experience more than my patient's.

I agree...I thought the math part wasn't bad. Although Kristina it's funny that you say that because I had the first one wrong as well and had to correct it. :) I guess when I think about the essay I had an equal balance of discussion about my patient and my relevant experience.

Ok so I needed to come and release some of the anxiety about this wait. GAAAHHHH! I applied at SPU, SU and UW. From what I've been reading SU should be sending out letters next week. SU is my 2nd choice, UW being my first. Anyone else in the same boat?

Sorry Kristina, this reply should've been posted along time ago. I just noticed that you had asked me where I had applied to. So I applied to 5 other colleges. TCC, SCCC, PLU, HCC, and Bates as my last option. It is SO competitive out there that it's frustrating! UW is of course my #1, but I did get into TCC.... I can't stop thinking about the essay though. I don't think I answered it clear enough. I do have a problem keeping my thoughts straight at times, and I think that may have been one of those times. O-well, I guess we'll see how it goes. The wait is killin me though.....I can hardly stand it.

Hello everyone!

Hope you are all staying sane! I looked at UW threads for the past a few years and it looks like most people receive news the first week of April, so we don't have much longer to wait!

Angelina09, Congrats on getting into TCC! At the very least, you know you will be in nursing school soon, and that must be a good feeling.

Unfortunately, I received some more bad news from my exhusband a couple weeks ago which has put me in an even worse financial situation than before, so if I am somehow accepted to UW I will have to decline...baring some miracle happening. I can't help but still be anxious to hear from them though.

@ Kristina I'm still crossing my fingers you will win the lottery or something.

I cannot believe how slow the time is passing. Has it not even been a month since we took the proctored essay? Ugh... here's to another month or so until we find out!

Guess I should start buying tickets! :)

So they sent out the letters to the graduate applicants, but they are still reviewing the undergrads..... This waiting game is driving me crazy!!!

Hang in there! Just a couple more weeks now. I got pretty excited when I saw the updates to the admissions blog, but unfortunately it was all about graduate applicants. I also got an email from UW about setting up some student ID number and about had a heart attack when I first saw it.

I'm trying to stay focused on the 3! A/P 2 tests I have next week, and hoping that all this studying will make time pass faster!

So I just got my denial letter from Seattle University. Sad day for me but I still have SPU and UW to look forward to. I just hope this isn't a bad omen....

Sorry to hear that :( I hope we all hear good news from UW in the next two weeks.

Tonight is my last day (and test) for A/P 2. I am actually pretty sad that the class is ending. I think that means I have officially lost my mind and I blame the nursing school application process ;)

oh you haven't lost your mind, lol. I was sad too that was one of the more interesting classes for me. We learned about cardiac stuff which fascinates me. Good luck on your test and just 22 days until they mail the letters out! (but who's counting, right? lol)
