University of Washington BSN Fall 2012

U.S.A. Washington

I'm surprised that this year I haven't seen any threads about people applying to UW's program. What's going on? Where are all the 2012 hopefuls? Reveal yourselves ;)

Good luck to everyone!

I applied this year!

I applied this year!

Yay there are two of us :o Wondering where everyone else went? Anyway ,good luck to you. I hope we find out whether we are doing the essay portion or not soon. Is this your first time applying? Did you apply anywhere else?

It is my first year applying. I'm pretty pessimistic about UW because of all the stories I hear! I have a strong gpa and lots of experience but I still feel like I don't have what it takes to be accepted. I also applied at SU, SPU, PLU, WWU and WSU.

I've also applied! This is my first year applying to nursing school and I've applied to UW ABSN, UW BSN, WSU, and BSU. I've already been accepted to UW's ABSN program but I'm hoping for a cheaper alternative. Plus, I'd prefer a 2year program. I'm not sure how my WSU application will go because NCAS still hasn't received my UW transcripts (they were printed early but the January snow storm & 3-day school closure delayed their postage). Eek! Good luck in the next steps!!! Can't wait until February 10th(-ish)!

I also applied to UW's BSN program! I am so excited to hear back and see if I will be in the Proctered Essay. I go to WCC in Bellingham. I am a Running Start student and will get my diploma and Associates in Arts and Sciences Transfer Degree to UW at the same time. I have worked at St. Francis (a nursing home) as a CNA for 7 months now. I also have done many job shadows in undeserved clinics, St Joseph's Hospital, and at Peace Health. Do you think this experience counts also? What kinds of experiences does everyone else have? Also, do you think UW will look at the fact that I am just graduating from high school and this will weigh me down or bring me up?

You got accepted into their ABSN program, which is much more rigorous. I think you're pretty set... :-o

Good luck to you too :D

Wow I wish I had done things like you have... you're so young and already on track to become a nurse, that's great! Every experience you have counts. What I got from the info session is that your experience is what you make of it. They don't seem to care TOO much about WHAT you've done, but instead they want to see how it's shaped you and how it's made you reflect on who you are (they talk about self-reflection/awareness a lot).

My experience, I had 300 hrs in clinical research in Fred Hutch and 1000 hrs working as a community health worker in a CHC. I work directly with a nurse so that's nice. I also included the 50 clinical hrs that I did in my NAC class.

Honestly I have no clue if I'll get in but I want to be realistic and not get my hopes up too much.

Hehe, people keep telling me that but I'm still pretty nervous! Nothing is ever for sure, especially with relation to UW's nursing admissions. Who knows what exactly what they are looking for plus it's a different cohort of applicants. But I'm always hopeful!

Has anyone gotten an email to come write the proctored essay?

I didn't think to include my clinical hours :/ Did you include this in your essay or on the resume? My resume had the Job Shadows listed and my NAC work at the nursing home but for the essay I just wrote about my NAC experience. I worked with a nurse also and she was the one who did my Recommendation Letter.
