Hello!

I just got pulled for the Spring 2012 lottery for TCC and was wondering if there was anyone else here who has been through the program lately and might have advice, or anyone else who was also lucky enough to be picked in the lottery...

Amy

I think she sent us another email stating that she wanted items 1, 2, 3 and with the statement. Item 4, 5, 6 are the how to and information on immunization, how to process health record and TCC nursing background check. I don't think you have to email anything back to her. What I did was that I emailed her the item 1,2,3, and a statement that I understand that the attendance at the orientation is required. However, I will send her an email saying that I have posted immunization and health records to the Magnus health just to be on the safe side.

I'm getting the vaccines that I need today. THen, I'll scan them and upload to Magnus. I did everything else during the weekend.

thanks rnmickey!

Hi,

I went ahead and submitted the background check even though the status is "pending." Is that okay? I read the instruction and it mentioned that the school has their own log in to look at your background check. I will keep checking the result of the background check and then upload the result again to magnus health. I only one more item to upload which is my varicella titer result which will be in couple of days.

Hi Lucky (future) RN's

I was picked for the part time program. YAY!! I am so excited and nervous. I can't believe my moment is finally here after working so hard. Nice to hear all of your excitement and enthusiasm as well. I too, am confused about some of the requirements. I have called and emailed Christine with questions; only to assume she wants us to figure it out on our own. So be it. I have most everything done. I guess what I'm not clear on: e-mailing 4,5,6 along with stating we understand that mandatory attendance to the orientation is required for acceptance. Items 4-6 are instructions for uploading required docs and ordering background check. Are we supposed to email those items to her as well? I thought that is what the Magnus Portal was for. Did I see someone mention that there was a fee for the Magnus Portal? I haven't been prompted to pay anything for it.

I look forward to meeting the part-time crew.

i completed my magnus yesterday and just sent Christine an email about it plus the required note about the orientation. so just waiting for the last part(3rd email) and the orientaion. i forgot to mention that my background check came back yesterday morning (3/5) and i ordered it friday morning so it did not take that long. there is no separate fee on the magnus, it's part of the background check that we paid for. goodluck everyone. see you all on the 19th!!!!

liberty :)

Thanks Liberty!

Hi!

Just checking in. One more week, and we'll know what our future holds - for the next two years.

Is anyone commuting from the North end to Tacoma? North end meaning: Renton, Kent, Auburn?

I'm commuting from Renton, and Snoqualmie. I work in Snoqualmie but live in Renton. My parents live in Tacoma which mean that I will be staying at their place for some nights.

There are 3 parts to do before the orientation, I hope to receive the 3rd part soon.

I was going to attempt arranging a carpool, but really, until I know the schedule I won't really be able to plan anything. It's kinda killing me. I have plenty of distractions, but when I think about it, it's like the clock goes in slow motion.

Yeah, you're right. Christine said we would be getting our 3rd e-mail one week before orientation. hmmmm. I guess I will be checking my e-mail often.

I'm commuting from Kent! I can't wait for next Monday to find out our schedule. Do you guys plan to work while going to school?

I do because I'm in the part-time program. It doesn't mean less work but I think I can manage it while working. I will see though how the workload will be once the program starts. I know many that have children, and work while in a nursing program (full time). It's all about time management and a very very supportive husband and other family members. I work night shift and luckily I can study while at work too.
