Tacoma Community College Nursing Program: Spring 2011

U.S.A. Washington

Published

Hello there! I was just accepted into TCC's Nursing Program for Spring 2011...any others out there?

congrats to you all! i applied to both spring and fall and was not accepted. :( the frustrating thing is this fall they only took 22, when they normally take 24 and i was 23 on the list!!! so close!!! the head of the dept said i may still be accepted if someone gives up their spot...but i just don't know why anyone would do that?!? so i guess i should just plan to hopefully get picked in the winter huh? i wondered...since i still need to get my BLS and AIDS/HIV cert done...should i just go get my CNA (before school starts, in the hopes that i get picked) or just wait til like Sept/Oct? I need my CNA to apply anywhere else. Thanks! GL to you all!!

23rd is soooo close, if someone doesn't go to the orientation you may get picked up! Or I know one student who got two acceptances so they have to pick one... You never know, plus maybe someone cant get all their requirements met... as for your CNA , I would wait just in case you do get picked up, would hate to see you spend 600+ dollars then not be able to attend if you get picked up by TCC... Good Luck!

Rainydayzjmb- I KNOW!! I am dying here that I am SOOOO CLOSE!!! so you know someone who got accepted to TCC and somewhere else?? tell them to go to the other school! LOL so i can! :) yeah...where did you get your BLS and AIDS/HIV cert from? i still need those and i know it's less than $600+...I just need some of my immunizations. hopefully that won't hold me up. thanks!!!

LOL , TCC only accepts American Heart Association BLS..

Have you heard anything yet?! I think there were a couple who did not show up for orientation? Also did you just finish Chem 131 this summer and go to Pierce?

Been hoping for you that you get in!

I GOT IN RAINYDAYZ!!!!! I just found out yesterday morning and I am still in SHOCK! No I didn't take Chem 131 and I went to GRCC! I prob should've taken 131 b/c eventually I want to get my BSN but I will focus on my RN for now!! :)

I am sooo excited!! I just got all the paperwork and have been trying to fill that out. I am taking my CPR cert tomorrow and picking up the AIDS/HIV video at school as well. I am just figuring out my immunizations and hoping all my financial aid is set and ready to go. It sucks I miss the big orientation, but Nancy is setting one up with me soon. I have no idea what the schedule will be either, which is hard b/c my hubby is trying to get a new job, I work and we have an 8 month old little boy! I am hoping I can still work at least a couple days a week and we don't have to pay for daycare. Are you still going to be working?!? BTW..I'm Jennea. And I can't wait to meet you and start this journey! My friend Tammy is in our cohort too! :)

Oh should I wait to complete the Magnus thing until I have my immunization docs, certs and what not scanned? I still have to figure out how to do all that. I also need to get my health insurance and update car insurance. What else am I forgetting? LOL Oh they didn't tell me all the supplies I will need and what is acceptable for clinicals. I am sure I will find out in orientation but I am trying to plan b/c we are a little broke.

OMG I am just still soooo amazed!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!! I am so excited for you Jennea! I spoke with your friend tammy breifly at orientaion, ur name sounded familiar, that's why I thought I might have had chem w u but guess not... :) Financial aid honestly for me has been a big pain. Missed TCCs deadline ( because I didn't know I was going to attend there back in may when it was due) so I'm having to cover everything for the 1st quarter...so far tuiition is 1380 and I bought my books off amazon for around 500.... not to mention costs of cpr, scrubs, vaccinations it all adding up quickly. I also have 2 kids but they are both in school, however coordinating clinical times and getting them to school is going to be tricky , but I've got to find a way..just have to, this is an amazing opportunity that we have! Look foward to meeting you, feel free to email me with any questions @ [email protected]. oh and for your magnus tracker scan you stuff as a PDF, makes sure all you records meet their expectations. I had to have mine signed and stamped by the doctors office. Congrats again!!!!!!!! - Jennifer

hi, Im not in the nursing program yet but lm taking prerequisites down here in florida, but my concern is that lm gonna be moving next year to tacoma. My question is how the lottery thing works because here is different lm getting really worried, l have to move because my husband is in the army and fort lewis was the place he was assigned. pls give an answer

Well it worked for me...I got in my first try , but I know some of my fellow student had to try multiple times and of course I'm sure some are still trying... about 23-25 out of 400 or so applicants... You will want to apply to more than one program if possible.

One more thing, What is the diference between the Pierce College and Tacoma????thank u. And good luck

I just applied for winter 2013 let see what happens ;)
