Tacoma Community College Nursing Program Class of 2010

U.S.A. Washington

Published

Hi everyone who got in with me for the fall 2008 quarter. I thought it would be cool if we had our own thread to post our questions and concerns. I for one am very excited for orientation. I don't want to wait a whole month! I'm sure it will fly by so fast!

lets introduce ourselves,

I'm Amanda!:nurse:

You already did your healthcare provider CPR? That is great! I have mine form my previous job, but it expires in January 09. I decided to take HT 198 since it will allow me to get my CPR and my HIV/STD certificate. I figure the class is only 10 days long and kills 2 birds with one stone. Another advantage is that Benson is teaching it, so I will get a sneak peak at one of our nursing profs.

I recently graduated from a nursing program in the kitsap area...and what really helped our class was the yahoo groups....you can post notes, download forms and picutres, and have discussions...it is not be used as a forum to bash instructors, students, etc. , it was very helpful and you can choose to have a select group of classmates or the entire class involved. It is worth looking into.

This is a wonderful idea to start a Thread for the Fall 2008 class. I am greatly looking forward to meeting you all Sept 12th! Starting a Study Group early on after orientation where we share with each other our perspectives and interpretations would be greatly helpful.

It has taken me 5 years to finally be accepted to the TCC program. Patience now is a piece of cake. I am so grateful to have been accepted and look forward to the next two years taking it one day at a time. I am blessed to have the support of my wife and sons to change careers and move into Nursing. Yes! I am a Nursing Student.

I have some favorite quotes:

"There is nothing better than the encouragement of a good friend"

"We either make ourselves miserable or we make ourselves strong"

"When life hits you in the face slap it right back"

Never Never Never Quit--Winston Churchill

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Henry David Thoreau

Lets keep chatting:yeah::nurse:

Your experience in a hospital pharmacy can really help us be successful and learn pharmacy. I would like to get a head start since there is so much to learn

I took the healthcare CPR and AIDS course through the school and it was a quick and painless 95 bucks for both. I was suprised how fast I was able to get that out of the way. I had signed up for the HT class, but Michelle took it last year and told me mostly it was an intro to different health careers, since I already picked mine, this was a faster way for me to do it. It also saved me about 200 bucks. The CPR instructor I had was so great, it was an awesome way to spend a saturday morning. Its so good to see more people in this thread, it was dead for a few days!

thanks for the tip neen

I made this thread a "sticky" for you all. This way it will always be at the top for you. Enjoy and thank you for participating here at allnurses!!

Hello everyone! I was thinking that after we figure out which group we are assigned to after orientation, it would be nice to try to set up carpools for clinicals. It sounds kinda cheesy, but during this process we are going to be our biggest support system since we are going through this at the same time. :)

That's probably a really good idea. I'm lucky to live about 2 min from campus, but who knows where our clinicals will be! I'm so excited. It's almost september!

Sounds like a great idea! Thanks

Has anyone bought books yet since they are now available at the book store, or is everyone waiting until after orientation?

I'm waiting, mostly because I need my financial aid to buy them! :)
