Seattle University BSN (transfer) Fall 2013

U.S.A. Washington

I didn't see any thread for Seattle U BSN transfer program fall 2013. Lets see if anybody else applied other than me lol..

I totally agree! I am hoping no more than two more weeks of waiting. I was trying to explain to my daycare people about the 3 different possible scenarios that may happen for next quarter. She was confused! Thankfully they are really flexible.

Exactly! It's very complex and you'd think that the requirements from program to program would be more similar than they are. My friend is applying to TacomaCC's program and they require sociology?????

Also, I'd love to see Microbiology and Chemistry courses at the CC school level be more nursing-focused since it seems to me that 90% of the people taking them are headed that route and a lot of the content is not used in nursing. I've shown RNs at my work the stuff I've studied and they all respond with "you'll never use that in nursing". A lot of the older nurses never even studied some of the stuff I have had. I agree there is value in those courses but making the content more applicable to nursing would be useful. I feel like a lot of these classes are just good for giving $$ to my CC. Just my two cents.

My Chem teacher actually did make a lot of reference to healthcare, because he did see so many pre-nursing students, as did my Micro teacher. It was nice to be able to connect things together in a practical way. And I have had A TON of nurses that I work with say they are glad they are already nurses and didn't have to do what I am currently doing.

Everett makes you take cultural anth, which actually makes some sense, because it does make you think about other cultures differently, plus it is pretty APA writing intensive, but I am sure i'll get to put that to good use in any program :/

I was looking on SPU's website (again) and in their FAQ they do say they try to get all letters out before spring quarter starts. So that is excellent news.

One more busy week of Winter quarter!! Then hopefully good news!

This wait is ridiculous!

I just spent the last hour ordering more transcripts for my next program deadline. I won't have enough time to send them if I end up not making it into SPU or SU by the end of March. That is irritating. It is partially my fault for having gone to so many colleges, but really there is a reason for every one! I don't like that a lot of place require 2 sets , one for the college and one for the nursing program. Why can't they share?

It's unbelievable, isn't it? I can appreciate that one of the reasons they ask for so many seemingly trivial things is to make sure that applicants are REALLY reading all the instructions.....but I'm with you! Sharing is caring! :)

If it makes you feel any better, in addition to SU I applied at the UW as well.....I was asked to write the proctored essay, and at that essay session, the advisor said that one of the reason the 280 of us were asked to move forward is because we followed all of the instructions....they eliminated 180 plus people right off the bat, and that was due in large part to people not completing the application in the manner that was dictated....I'm sure in the scheme of things it will all work out to our favor, right? :)

The waiting is almost over - thank goodness!

I applied to the UW as well. I was careful ( I thought!) to follow the directions carefully. makes me wonder if I missed something. :( I know it would be a big job, but it would be nice if they let people know why they didn't at least get a chance at the essay.

@SaraFutureNurse--did you apply to SPU also? Or just SU and UW?

I just applied to the U and SU for nursing school.....but I also applied to SPU as a transfer student with the hopes that if I don't get into either UW or SU this year, I can start classes at SPU in the fall and work towards applying to their nursing school next year. I know the number of spots for transfers into SPU's nursing program is teeny tiny, so I'm planning to make my possible rejections work for me! :)

What about you?

I got in to SPU's nursing program! I am a student there so we found out today, but I am assuming that transfers will find out next week. Good luck to you all!

UW, SPU, and SU, all as a transfer. I am also applying for shoreline CC, and then possibly EvCC if no acceptance letters have come by their application deadline July 5th :) I already know UW is a no. I didn't realize SPU only took a small # of transfers. I would have applied anyway though, cause you never know!
