Anyone else finishing prereqs and getting ready to apply? - page 4

If so, what schools? I'll be finishing micro this fall quarter and be applying to UW, Seattle U, and Shoreline. I'm also looking to apply at a few ABSN programs out-of-state. However, I'm a... Read More

I just have a couple more pre-reqs to do, and one of them is Nutrition. I would like to take this online winter quarter, if possible. Has anyone taken any of their pre-reqs online? All my others have been in person. Anyone have a particular community college to recommend for online courses?

Also, has anyone taken any of their pre-reqs pass/fail? I'm not sure if that is allowed. I would love to take Nutrition pass/fail as I have another course I need to take in the Winter that I would like to devote more time to.
If you need something as a prerequisite to your program you'll need to get the minimum grade requirement and pass/fail won't cut it. However for a class that isn't required for your program you can certainly opt for a pass/fail grade instead if you don't want your cululative GPA to be affected. I'm taking Medical Terminology next quarter and it isn't required it's just an elective so I could opt for Pass/Fail but I'll take a grade because I like to keep the pressure on myself to stay competitive but it's up to you.

    jessicadawn,

I took Bio 241 and Chem 121 together this Fall, along with an online English class (which did require a LOT of time) and I work 30 hours a week, and have managed to maintain a A in all courses. I would NOT consider myself a "science" person either (as I am very artistic and right brained, lol) but if you put the TIME into the classes to study and attend EVERY lecture, there is no reason why you can't do it either. Also, make friends with your classmates...form study groups and if you don't get something...ASK, b/c if you don't get it and fall behind, it almost IMPOSSIBLE to catch up (I learned this the FIRST time I took AP 5 years ago) or master the material. Good Luck! I hope to be right along side with you at TCC in the Fall 2010 endeavoring the nursing school journey with you.
You are so positive and encouraging. I'm at OC now and I find a mix of helpful students and kind of cut throat students. Of course I gravitate towards the helpful ones and we all help each other out. I look at it like this: I'm going to reach my goal and I wish that for everyone else too. I'm competing with myself. I wish I could say that I'll be along side you at TCC in Fall of 2010 but I know I'll get there. I wish you the best of luck though!

I am currently taking my Nutrition class online. Last Fall, I also took a Developmental Psych class online. Very helpful since I work full-time. I highly recommend the online nutrition class I am taking now from South Seattle Community College. My prof is very knowledgeable and she teaches nutrition from a public health perspective. The workload is quite similar to what you would expect in a traditional classroom. I have been enjoying this class immensely!

Last year I took Psych 100 & 206, Eng 101. Chem 121, Bio 250,251,252 (A&P series with lab), Micro, Communications all with a 4.0. This year I am taking Chem 131, Statistics and possibly nutrition (Stats and nutrition I will be doing online). I am trying to find a community college with a NAC course that counts for 'college credit' so the credit hours can apply towards financial aid. Can anyone make any suggestions? I am in the south puget sound area.
    Thanks

South Puget Sound Community College has a NAC class which I believe is a 5 credit class, they are on the trimester schedule and is in Olympia.. good place to be IMHO... also there are a few retirement centers that provide the training at an accelerated level (3 weeks) for free with the hope you will stay to work. I chose the college NAC class and would recommend it.

Everett Community College has a CNA course that is 10 credits, and I think they are going to offer it for spring quarter this year. (I took it about 4 years ago and thought it was a really fun course) I realize Everett is rather far for you, but just thought I'd mention it anyhow.

I'm finally back in school after a long break. This quarter I'm taking cellular biology, and nutrition online at EvCC

Thanks, MPHGirl. I ended up enrolling in an online nutrition class at BYU. I enrolled about a month ago and haven't done a thing yet. I have a year to finish the class, but I need to be done with it by June so I can start my nursing program, for which it is a prerequisite. I am finding it hard to make myself sit down and do the work without any structure. Help! I am also taking two in-person courses, and these seem to take my time up preferentially, I think because I have to go to class in person each day. I need discipline!

I am applying this coming up Spring quarter for Whatcom's nursing program. Do you think I have a chance with a 3.6 gpa and I get .25 extra point for having a previous bachelors. Thanks! I appreciate any advice or tips!
