Anyone applying for Bellevue College nursing 2013-2014 program?!

Hello!

I am applying this February for the Bellevue College RN program for 2013-2014, I just wanted to see if there is anyone else out there that is applying for that time period as well?!

Where else is everyone applying?! Anyone taken the TEAS yet?

Honestly, I didn't find the reading as helpful as the camtasias (even though they come with their own set of problems, as you will see AGAIN and AGAIN) however, I have found that when I need my books, I need pretty much all of them all at once. I think that the Med-Surg book is a good one to have a physical copy of and so are the diagnosis and drug books. Its helpful to be able to flip superfast and page markers and whatnot. The Fundamentals books could totally go digital, absolutely. Hope that helps. Good luck!!

I'm interested in applying to Bellevue's nursing program, but I'm interested in their clinical sites. Are any current students willing to let me know where their clinical sites are?

Well it sort of depends on what you're studying that quarter and not everyone goes to the same place together. The cohort is split up and the sites rotate. Some of the facilities include Harborview, Valley, Overlake, Mount St. Vincent's, VA...you may end up at the same place a couple of times but on different floors. I can tell you that Bellevue is the only nursing school in the region that is allowed to have a rotation at Children's :) At least, that's what they tell us.

Like badkat said, it totally depends on what quarter you are in and where the school can find enough placements. The hospitals I know of that either are or have been used by BC are Evergreen, Overlake, Harborview, Providence, Children's, Swedish, Snoqualmie Valley, VA, Valley, and Virginia Mason.

I took the TEAS and then promptly retook it. haha. Like everyone else, I struggled with the science section. Make SURE you know your biology (pun squares, photosynthesis, DNA/RNA, mitosis/meiosis). Chem wasn't so bad, maybe a couple of atom/electron questions and balancing an equation. As far as math goes, it was basic algebra (easy), some estimations/adding/subtracting and a couple stats questions (which chart/graph to use & when, qualit/quant etc.). You'll also need to know conversions, but they aren't hard (ounces to ml). Time will be your biggest factor. Don't try to do the easy math on paper....ESTIMATE when it says ESTIMATE or you WILL run out of time.

Also, if you have test anxiety as per the ADA, they'll give you double time. Ask your testing site about it. You'll need documentation, but they will work with you!

Was bumped to waitlist at BC....but I got into Seattle Central (school I wanted) so I'm excited about that for sure!! Hope everyone else got in to their school of choice, as well!!!

Congratulations! Nursing school is brutal so it helps if you are at the school of your choice. Best of luck to you!

cupkate255: What number are you on the wait list for Bellevue? I'm number 26. :( Congrats on getting into Seattle Central. That is so exciting! Do you have a preference of which school you want to go to?

I was like 30 something on BC waitlist. Seattle Central was my school of choice, as veterans get 50% off tuition there. NO student loans for me! (Hopefully until MSN)

I'm excited that you got into Seattle Central! Good luck!
