I relocated from California to Vancouver, WA for my husband's job. I was hoping to make a career change to home health or hospice but I have yet to find entry level openings. My areas of expertise are in level 2 NICU, nursery and pediatrics and psych nursing 20 years ago. I have seen 1 NICU job, (per diem), open in the 2 months I've been here. Over the bridge in Portland it does not appear to be better. I have seen an opening for a CNA2 in NICU. (Can RN's become CNAs?) I've applied for an assortment of jobs I am quasi qualified in with no sucess. Yes, I'm whining and I would like cheese to go with my whine!

Is it worthwhile/necessary to invest in an Oregon license? Can anyone enlighten me on the system here? I am open to any feedback. I'm stumped.
Thanks!
