FYI, in all of my calling around yesterday I did reach a human being in DC. I was surprised! The main number didn't work so I just started picking people to call and eventually got through!

If any of this is info that you already know, just ignore. If we go through them (DC BON) to do fingerprint/background check we have to make an appointment (don't know how soon it would be). I got conflicting info from the site and the person I was talking to regarding walk-in fingerprinting, so not sure. You also have the option to go to a local PD to have it done. My local doesn't do it but the state barracks do them at certain times of the week. There are directions on the site (DC BON) for doing it a your local PD (certain form # to use, what to write in reason box, include FBI scan...). If you choose that option, you just bring to DC BON your receipt as proof. Sorry if that was info you already knew, it was new to me!

Still not on NURSYS and it is shut down 'til 7A Mon so I am hoping Tuesday I can slam it all out. I really have to say, I am a resourceful person and I am no idiot but this processes is pretty crazy! There needs to really be a page on DC/MD BON sites that goes through this process step by step w/ applicable links, approx timeframes for each step, what needs to be done before proceeding, status updates (IT working on a problem or whatever)... That would have saved theses agencies dozens of calls from us alone!:spbox:

I truly am grateful to you guys. You have been a wealth of information and have helped me immensely with this process!

I agree!!! This has been a crazy process and it's still not complete yet, lol! I am confused about the fingerprints as well. When I talked to someone he said everything could be done in the same day then someone else said make an appt. IDK what to think/do. I guess i'll call DC BON early Monday and see what they say, if not I'll go elsewhere and get my fingerprints done and then return to BON. Hopefully everything runs smoothly for us at this last leg of the race!:nurse:

Hey,

From what I took from speaking to the DC board of nursing, it can be done in one day. If one likes, they can give you an appt. that day to go the Metro..PD ( for finger printing). I think electronic finger printing is fastest and the best. i have the application filled out, 2 passport photos, the 280 in the correct method of payment, I think I have to bring my marriage license since I have had a name change during the process of becoming a nurse. I think that may be all, let me know if I am forgetting something.

So If I want, I can get an appt for finger printing the same day and hop on the metro after leaving the DC board of nursing to get it done. This is what I took away from the DC process of endorsement.

I think your right. I'll be up there bright and early tomorrow. Do we need a copy of our current license?

I think the NURSY( verification system) takes care of our license, so one shouldn't have to bring one. Maryland said they didn't even send paper license anymore, they sent me a certificate...

Hey,

Everything went smoothly. The only thing I would add is to bring the printed confirmation of your NURSYS (verification). She took the copy I had, but I don't think its required. It was a smooth and quick process. I was also able to get my finger printing done. I got there about 10:30 and was done with BON and fingerprinting by Noon. I drove to each place and had to find parking and then walk.

Thanks for the info. I am glad it went smoothly for you. Still not on NURSYS:( Left another message for Ms. Frisby and I am currently on hold to try to talk with a person from MD BON! 31 minutes so far...

All completed! Very quick and easy process compared to everything else we have been through. I even lucked up with finding parking at each place! It took me about 2 hours including dropping everything off at WHC. So glad that's over with.

Ashnem: I hope everything works out for you. I would call every number listed.

I spent hours doing that. Left messages for Frisby, all the IT guys... I talked to one person who said "up to 7-10 business days". So frustrated...
