Job with NIH (post here or MD)

Not sure if this should post here or on MD link; but I'll start here for now.
Has anyone ever worked for the National Institute of Health? What type of facility is it; does it consist of a hospital? This was posted on another forum and I wanted to throw it out here to gather information. I'm currently a traveler and thinking of taking and assignment around the DC area. Any information about getting a job at NIH as a nurse (pediatric critical care in particular) is much appreciated.
