interview at Providence hospital

U.S.A. Washington DC

I have an interview at Providence in DC next week. This is an excellent opportunity because its close to the field I wish to get into and is only a couple miles from where I live. Has anyone had experience with interviews at this hospital? Can you tell me what they may ask or any other tips. I am a new grad and have flunked around 4 interviews at this point. I am really shy which gets in the way of me showing my many great qualities.

Hi there, congrats on getting the interview. I was offered a job with them about 6 months ago that I turned down for a job at another hospital. The interview process was pretty standard. I met with the nurse recruiter. I believe her name was Cassandra(?) for the initial interview. Then went up to meet the unit manager and tour the unit. A week or two later they called me with the offer. Then I went to employee health for the drug screen and a nurse practitioner did my physical. In DC I believe it's a requirement to do a pre-employment physical.

I was very surprised at what Providence offered. I applied for a prn position and the offer was $40 plus $6 shift diff for weekend nights which is higher than the average going rate in the area. I decided against it because the hospital just kinda felt icky to me. I can't quite put my finger on it, but on the unit I was applying for the staff just seemed disgruntled and dilapadated somehow. The building was run down and dirty. It just felt a little gross to me. They do see a large clinic population though which I truly love. Let us know how the interview goes. Best of luck!

Hi CBCLE,

I just got an email from Cassandra today asking to set up an interview for an ER position that I applied. Can you tell me some interview tips? Thank you very much!

Hi Wesside1975,

Did you get the job? How was your interview experience? I am interviewing for a ER position there soon, would love to hear from you.

I have six months experience on a med surg/step down unit at a hospital in Norfolk, VA. I am looking ot move to the DC area. Any interview tips or ideas of questions? How is the hospital? Was the interview brutal? How long did it take before you heard a reply? How much is the pay and is there any shift differntial? I know this is an old thread but I cant figure out how to post. Hoefully some one will reply. Thanks. !!
