Hired @ INOVA & Georgetown!!!

U.S.A. Washington DC

Hi! I am a LPN I was hired at Inova Medical Group. I've been there for a week and really like it so far. I'll float between all the doctor's offices between INOVA which include internal medicine, family practice, urgent care, some Peds, obgyn, and neurology. Typical Monday - Friday schedule. Typical doctors office duties

Today I was hired at Georgetown University Hospital in the department of medicine. I will work in the specialties of cardiology, pulmonology, nephrology, rheumatology & endocrinology. I'd assist with procedures, some rooming of patients, and administrative work when the manager is out of the office. Also the occasional code (yes I was told that happens sometimes?).

Typical Monday - Friday schedule.

Both hospitals are offering the same salary. I'm having a HARD time deciding between the two companies. I NEED ADVICE!! ???

I highly recommend Georgetown. I too was hired at Georgetown and INOVA when i first moved to DC was kind of given an offer I couldn't refuse at Georgetown. Georgetown is a Magnet facility, INOVA Fairfax is as well (not sure if what location you'd be at). I'm not sure what tuition reimbursement INOVA offers, but Georgetown pays up to $6,000 a year (pays for all of my part-time graduate school), offers tax-free paycheck deductions for the metro, and have solid medical/dental plans.

since most stuff sounds comparable, i would heavily factor in the personality of the managers and your commute. the only weird thing about georgetown is the juxtaposition of the forward thinking Magnet mentality and the old-school physician style of teaching residents. LOTS of inadvertent teaching you have to do for medical students, but that can be a positive or negative depending on your attitude. good luck and congratulations!

Thanks so much GIRLvsNSG. I really liked the manager at Georgetown. Are you still there? How soon can you transfer to another department at Georgetown? I live in VA so Inova would be an easy commute, however going to georgetown wasn't bad either.
