Georgetown Accelerated BSN Program Fall 09 Interviews?

U.S.A. Washington DC

Published

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has heard from Georgetown as to whether they got an interview for their Fall '09 Accelerated BSN program. I am hoping to hear soon!!

Stacy!

Hi Koala! OMG, so they went fine (no surprises really), but our group was HUGE (40+), so it was kind of scary knowing that most of us probably would not be getting into the program. Everyone was really nice (applicants and Georgetown staff included), so at least that helped make the day enjoyable even though it was long. As always, I found myself trying not to worry about what I said, if I said the right thing, or forget to say something! Laura did tell us we would be notified by email on the 13th, and the scholars program on the 22nd - SO, not too many more days of anxious waiting! She said there were 300+ applicants, 120 got invited back to interviews (so I guess a third were in my group yesterday), and they would accept about 64 and give 42 scholarships. Hope that helps, and good luck!

Right - Laura said to expect emails by the end of the business day on April 13th. Honestly, I have to say it was such a wonderful experience getting to know the other applicants as well as touring WHC/Georgetown. It was very organized and informative - and overall I am VERY impressed with this program! Interviews weren't bad at all - but I don't want to get my hopes up considering EVERYONE thought the interviews went well :p. I have to say though - I am a bit discouraged knowing that the majority of the spots for the program are reserved for people applying to the WHC scholarship. I was the only non-citizen in the group - so that narrows my chances drastically since I'm not eligible to apply for the scholarship. But overall, this was such a wonderful experience..I am VERY impressed and very grateful to have this opportunity to interview. It was also a pleasure meeting everyone in my group :) good luck to everyone on MONDAY! :)

sasagrrrl...I wasn't under the impression that applying to the WHC scholarship had any bearing on our acceptance to the program...did I miss something? I thought she was saying that is why they extended the deadline, and why the notification dates were also separate. While I am definitely planning on applying, I haven't done so yet since I figured I got a few more days to tweak it, since we have until the 15th (and we get our notification on the 13th). Did anyone else here that (and am I totally off-base)?

P.S. - great meeting all of you too - good luck to those I met and those I didn't!

MWK-

I agree. Laura did say the WHC scholarship has no bearing on the admission decision.

Actually, you are right - thank you for clarifying. I just remember slightly freaking out when she mentioned that 45 people would be admitted into the scholarship program and expressing this concern to Michelle - who asked if I had any back-up schools (HA!) :)

Oh no, she really said that? Maybe she just said it because you were so worried!

Well, in regards to the scholarship, PHEW!!!! You had me worried there for a hot second!(That smiley is supposed to be a sigh of relief!)

Guys, I'm so nervous! I keep on checking my e-mail in case they send decisions out early (which I know isn't realistic, but I can't help it)! I'm going to go crazy this weekend. I had my interview back in the middle of March, so I've been waiting for ages to hear about a decision.

Well, has anybody heard anything? I've heard nothing yet. I've been checking my e-mail every 2 minutes for a response.

Nothing yet. I am also hitting the refresh button on my email every few minutes.

Good luck. Let us know as soon as you hear anything.

Thank you. And I hope you'll let us know as well.

Good luck!

Yep, same here - anxiously waiting! I'm going to step out for lunch...hopefully that will keep my mind off things and when I come back, there will be a happy, little "congratulations" email in my inbox! *fingers crossed*

Good luck everyone!
