Can anyone give me information on this hospital? I would like to know about the new grad internship. Is it organized? Is the staff supportive? Does the new grad feel confident to practice alone after the internship? Is the internship intense? Info about pay would be good too, but it is not my main concern. I just want to be in a place that would give me a great orientation.

Thanks!

I can't speak to how the orientation goes, but I got hired in February. I think my orientation will last about 4 months where I'll have a preceptorship with didactic classroom teaching.

I got a $3,000 sign-on bonus and my base payrate is at $25. Everyone was very friendly when I was there and they're doing a lot of construction right now.

That's about all I know until I get there in August. Good luck!

Hi Justine,

Are you a new grad? Congratulations on the job and move. I'm closer to Balto but this is a really nice area, imo. Jules

Yes I am a new grad. Do you work at CNMC?

No, I'm still inquiring around as to which facilities have good student orientation programs. Keep us posted.

I will. Are you a new grad as well?

Yes, in 4 weeks, knock wood! I'm already a LPN and wasn't sure if I wanted to apply to this program but now I'm thinking I should at least find out more about it. I'm on the Balto. side so the commute is a bit concerning but this facility really sounds great. Good luck to you.

I can't speak to how the orientation goes, but I got hired in February to start working in the NICU which is about 55 beds--huge!! I'm from Seattle and the children's hosp here is only a 14-bed unit. I think my orientation will last about 4 months where I'll have a preceptorship with didactic classroom teaching.

I got a $3,000 sign-on bonus and my base payrate is at $25 + $2 since I'll be working in an ICU. Everyone was very friendly when I was there and they're doing a lot of construction right now (and the NICU will have a totally new unit by January--so excited for that).

That's about all I know until I get there in August. Good luck!

hey! I was wondering if you still worked at CNMC. I graduate this may and I am trying to apply for their internship programs and I have a couple questions. When did the application open up when you were applying because I haven't seen any openings yet. I tried emailing the recruiter in charge of internships, but no reply. Do you have any suggestions? I live in Florida otherwise I would go in and try to talk to someone at the hospital. I don't have a specific peds specialty in mind, I just I want to work with kids. :) Also, what did you think of the internship? Would you say it was work it to move out there from your home? I really want to be part of an pediatric internship program. Please help if you can. Thanks.

As far as the NICU at childrens...i can tell you that you have way missed the application point, openings were likely up in september-november, interviews have probably already been done or are finishing. Unfortunately the nicu nurse manager is very ahead of schedule with that program

hey! Thanks for the response. Do you work there now? I actually don't want to work in nicu, I would be happy with any peds floor to get some experience and eventually get to picu. The nurse recruiter said they are still assessing needs so I guess I will have to just wait it out till applications are up. Did you participate in the internship? Would you recommend it?

Bumping this! Any information on Children's National Medical Center will be very helpful. I'm hoping to get hired for their February residency!
