Soulshine- I did not get to finish that message! I will try to send it later, it isn't working for me now for some reason. :/

The wait is killing me....;)

I got the email saying decisions will be posted December 22nd! I got so excited because I thought it was an interview email. :(

Does anyone know what percentage of applicants are interviewed? No one is admitted without an interview, right? Also does anyone know how much time we'd have between our acceptance and putting down a deposit?

This was on another forum when I asked about the interviews...I still am crossing my fingers my for you! I don't know this for sure but I think they have another week. I can't remember when exams fall because they said they will not be conducting them during that time. Below is what the dean posted in the other forum!

Soulshine:

First off, thus far we have contacted only 1/3 of those who we will eventually interview; there are still several dozen applicants who have yet to be invited for interviews. Interviews will be conducted until December 15. In most cases, we make offers of admissions from those who were interviewed by faculty on the committee. However, there are also individuals who are unavailable for interviews (overseas on medical missions/volunteer work, Peace Corps, military deployments) who may be offered admissions without an interview.

I was curious about the financial aid and when they let you know how much and if we are approved for it?

Soulshine:

There will be no decisions on financial aid at this time. Aid for next year will depend on filling out the FAFSA (which you cannot do until January 2013 after you have completed your taxes). In addition, much of our financial aid comes from the Commonwealth of Virginia (we are a public university), and I often will not know precisely what $$ I have to distribute until after the General Assembly passes the state budget.

We will send out the School's scholarship application in February and hope to announce decisions for 2013-14 academic year in April.

At UVa, you would receive aid from two sources. The School awards the scholarships and fellowships for graduate students; the University Office of Student Financial Service handles all student loans. Most new CNL students take loans for the first summer, adn then receive some scholarship support for the following fall/spring.

Is there a % of students they take from out of state opposed to in-state?

The University requires that at least 50% of the students in our MSN program to be Virginia domiciles. This is a factor that we consider at the meeting at the end of the season when we make the admissions decisions for all applicants.

I found this: http://www.nursing.virginia.edu/media/Graduate_Handbook_DECNL_2011_2012.pdf very interesting and useful.

I was looking at their global options for community health.. the trip to Ethiopia working with orphans sounds amazing!
