UVA CNL 2013 Cohort

U.S.A. Virginia

Published

Hi everyone!

I have applied to UVA's CNL program for May 2013 entrance. I had my interview this past week and it went well. Now comes the hardest part.. waiting until December 20 to find out! Is anyone else out there in the same boat? I am from out of state, anyone else? :)

Good luck all!

If anyone has any questions about Charlottesville in general or advice on housing, please let me know! I was born and raised here and am happy to help!

SO excited to meet y'all!

Excited to meet you too! I am eager for May. I, too, am from the area:) Not born and raised, just a transplant, but I certainly will always consider Charlottesville home:)

Congratulations on your acceptance!

Thanks for sharing. Amazing story.

Hi there! Congrats to everyone who was offered admission! Does anyone have a sense of the CNL schedule in terms of breaks between semesters? Thanks!

We are working on the schedule for the summer of 2013 still. The Fall and Spring semesters follow the regular University academic calendar.

What is the expected date for financial aid award letters? I am trying to get an idea of budgets and finances while in the program.

Soulshine:We will be sending out the scholarship application in March. We have no scholarship monies left for the summer (the end of the fiscal year). We will be making awards later this spring for the next academic year (fall 2013 and spring 2014) after the General Assembly determines the state budget for next year. We also use alumni gifts, the annual fund, and endowment revenue for scholarships. I will not know that amount of $$ to award until after July 1. So we will not know the precise scholarship awards for MSN students for 2013-14 until July. I cannot make precise awards until I know what my budget will be.

Oh, okay that makes sense. So summer is definitely all loans, correct? If so, do we get a general idea of the amount well before May?

Thank you for the quick response!

Summer will be all loans. You will be taking 11 credits this summer. The tuition/fees will be on the Summer session website at Summer Session, U.Va..

UVA Grad Nursing,

Completely off topic.....In another thread, a year or two old, you mentioned a male graduate who works as a midwife. He was a graduate of your program, spent time in the Peace Corps, and had plans to continue working on a project to improve prenatal care. If possible, could you reach out to him and see if he would be willing to speak to another male who was in the PC and is considering midwifery? According to the Terms of Service, we are not supposed to provide personal information on this site. But if you went to any of the academic pages for the UVa grad programs (10 MSNs, 9 Post-MSNs, or 2 doctoral) , my contact info (phone and email) on every one of those academic pages. You can also call the school and ask to speak to the admissions office; right now I am a 1-person admissions office.

You will be able to use the PM function after making 15 posts (but please, don't make any one-word/nonsense posts to boost your post count ... not that you would, but people do!). It is set up this way so spammers can't just join and start PMing everyone at will. :)
