Hello :) THIS IS A BRAND NEW THREAD for TCC's up and coming classes in January and March, 2013.

I am starting this thread to help me get through the waiting game. I just finished my HESI yesterday, and turned in my application today. Now the LONG wait begins. I would like to get into the Jan or Mar cohorts. Does anyone know when they actually begin?

I was surprised to have chemistry on the HESI--because it isn't required for the program. My scores were good though...all within the 92-100 range. It took me FOREVER to do the test. 223 minutes!

How about everyone else? What did you think of the HESI?

Does anyone want to meet before the meeting at Starbucks or ???

New Question for current nursing students:

Classes are monday-thursday 8:30-2:30 right?

Do we get a lunch?

Also, the semester ends in May for regular students, do we follow the same schedule? As in, we will get a little time off after the Spring semester ends and the Summer semester begins?

Oh, big question here, do we HAVE to wear the Dove brand uniform pants from Barnes and Noble or can we get any white pants from a uniform shop?

Thanks a bunch :)

Yes you will get a half hour lunch break.

Yes, you will have about 2 weeks between spring and summer semester. It follows the same start dates as everyone else.

It would be better for you to get the dove pants. If you don't you run the risk of your pants not looking the same as everyone else's and then you might not be let into clinical.

Hello ladies! Does anyone know if we are supposed to have everything completed from the "checklist" by the day of our orientaion next week?

just graduated. yes you need stethoscope, buy one within your budget. Buy white sneakers cheap but with no colors/Nike swoosh etc. Buy dove clothes from their website, and books online and you will save a lot. Don't buy anything unless they tell you it is acceptable or needed. Semesters are 16 weeks, nursing classes are 8 weeks so you will take 2 classes back to back a semester and then take regular breaks for TCC after each semester. You need a second hand watch not digital. Make friends/study partners asap and work as a team and you'll do fine. Most people keep their books for reference. You register for classes like any other student but if you are in a cohort a spot in a class is reserved for you and their is no worry or need for early registration, just by the regular deadline. Program is excellent and has an excellent first time pass rate on NCLEX. Everyone from my class I spoke with has passed NCLEX with minimum 75 out of possible 265 questions. Spring break is same for you as any other TCC student. Don't believe what you read on rate your professor etc. They are all teachers who help those who want to succeed and are willing to work for it. Good luck

dnadeau, you had to turn in your intent to attend the school already. The rest you have to do on it's own timeline listed on the admission checklist.

The nursing orientation is Nov. 29th

The medical form needs to be completed within "6 months PRIOR to admission" into the course, so that really means hurry up because we don't have 6 months. ASAP!

Everything else needs to be completed beforehand.

Thanks TCCRN

I appreciate you answering all of the questions :)

Did you get a job already?

haven't sent resumes yet. going to enjoy the holidays before I have to start working them, You will get assigned a nursing instructor/counselor who will be there for you through whole program. Study math (dosage calculations) to prepare, they won't really teach it and you will get tested on it from 2nd course till the end

THANKS for the headsup!

Please let me/us know how the job hunt goes and where you end up. I have been reading that it's been hard for new grads to get hired. I hope that isn't the case.

GOOD LUCK!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still willing to switch places with anyone currently set to enter the program in January and would like to go start in March instead :) just let me know!!!!
