Hello :) THIS IS A BRAND NEW THREAD for TCC's up and coming classes in January and March, 2013.

I am starting this thread to help me get through the waiting game. I just finished my HESI yesterday, and turned in my application today. Now the LONG wait begins. I would like to get into the Jan or Mar cohorts. Does anyone know when they actually begin?

I was surprised to have chemistry on the HESI--because it isn't required for the program. My scores were good though...all within the 92-100 range. It took me FOREVER to do the test. 223 minutes!

How about everyone else? What did you think of the HESI?

I believe you have to do it after they process program change ...CPR has to be completed before the start of the program to my understanding. The paper says 6 weeks prior to the program start but dont think they can hold you to that since theres only about 6 weeks left so just get it asap :-)

You aren't allowed to post phone numbers, email, ext. on the forum. You have to do that through PM. Be cautious buying used books because they might be the wrong edition for our class which could cause some big problems when asked to refer to a specific page(s) in the text.

Hey y'all! I'm in cohort 2 and today is my last clinical day for NUR 108! Just wanted to drop by and tell you guys that the program is great and the instructors are even better. I've laughed with them more than any other instructors i've had. The first test is scary, but not as bad as you think it's gonna be. Be sure you do your HESI case studies as you go and don't wait till the last minute to do anything! If you wanna start your reading now... start with COMMUNICATION, ASEPSIS and HYGIENE. These are the main focus of the course. These subjects, especially communication, show up on EVERY test and will be evaluated at clinical. You are expected to know A&P but aren't really tested heavily on it. Clinical isn't as scary as it seems either. Make buddies with the CNA's. They are great resources of info and can be great at demonstrating techniques with vitals and hygiene! The RN's are usually quite busy and don't have as much flexibility with their time, but some are still willing to give advice and help if needed. Some things I wish I hadn't bought were the HUGE care plan books. Small ones are better because you need them at clinical. I've also never once used the Strategies, Techniques and Approaches to Thinking book by Castillo. I bought 1 set of clinical clothes along with the lab jacket. Pockets are GREAT! Be sure to go through the checklist in your nursing skills pack and make sure everything is there. Good luck to you all! See you around the hall!

Speaking about cna so if you were a cna bfr do you think that it would help you a little but wth the classes, or what aspect of the cna scope of practice do we gonna focus on, like bed making, pericare,vitals, feeding or things like that
