Hey Everyone,

I'm hoping to take Anatomy and Physiology in the fall at Tidewater...but I've been hearing some rumors from friends and coworkers that the pass rate is 50-65%. Annnnd that kind of intimidating!! Any input?

Thanks!

I'm a current student at TCC and I'm taking Anatomy and Physiology this summer. After reading your post now I'm nervous. I plan on taking the lecture online and then I go to campus twice a week for the lab. I did go to ratemyprofessors.com before selecting my professors for this class and the ones I chose had good reviews. I guess I will find out for sure this summer.

I go to MCI and we lost 50% of our class during A&P 1 which was 5 weeks long. I am told that some of the CC's in the area do accelerated summer programs, if it is accelerated study A LOT! Use your book website it is very helpful! You can get through it, your a corpsman. I am an AT and I am doing it on 5 week classes, so you definitely can! Good luck!

I took A&P 1 in the summer of 2009 and A&P2 in Fall 2009 at TCC, did fine in both. For sure the instructor curved the grades in 1, probably not so much in 2 (different instructor). I don't think you should believe all the horror stories that float around. Probably the hardest part for me was identifying the tissue samples through the scopes. I am definately a scope dope, but since I probably won't ever have to use one again, I'm not too worried about it. The lab practicals are the things you need to get past, they roll out all the tissue samples and models, and then mark a part and you have a minute to correctly ID what it is you are looking at. Lotsa fun... For me, micro was much harder, much for the same reason and they tend to be very picky about procedures used in the lab.

A&P was a breeze for me and Micro was a killer too. I am not any good with the microscope.

It is important to keep in mind that these class are going to take work and require a lot of study time but passing the class is possible. I am completing A&P 2 this semester and they now require that you past lab and lecture. If you go to the open labs and find a study group. You should do fine!;)

Wow thanks guys for all that input so quickly!! School doesnt come easy for me so I was expecting to study a lot in the first place, but I think if i choose the right teacher (I went on ratemyprofessor.com too) I'll be ok. I've just heard from a lot of people the same things, so I figured there was truth to it. I'm glad I posted! Thanks so much:)
