Student Applying to NVCC For Nursing Program Starting in Fall 2013

U.S.A. Virginia

Published

Hi Everyone!

I really wanted to begin a thread about NVCC's Nursing Program due to begin in Fall 2013 (Applications are due May 2013). I am starting my pre-reqs in January, because I have been in school elsewhere. I know it will be tight to get them completed in time to apply, but I want to be considered in time for the Fall 2013 program.

For anyone who has applied and been accepted to NVCC's nursing program, or for anyone who plans to in May, will you tell me what your credentials were (GPA, TEAS score, any certifications etc)? As in, if you could describe the perfect nursing school application, what would it include?

I want to do this right! Any support/insight is great.

HI everyone!

My name is Jessica. I'm too a NOVA's Nursing applicant for traditional. I submitted my application on May 8th, and MEC counseling just informed me that my application was processed successfully. Yuppie!! I'm both happy and excited at the same time since I was so worried that I might have missed turning in something on my application. Now I feel much better! I can't wait for June to be here!!! I am just so anxious to receive my letter once and for all. Please, please, please. Hope I get in and become the best nurse:nurse:

Good luck everyone. I'll keep you posted !

Hi Everyone,

I want to wish everyone GOOD LUCK....I was in your shoes last year and am happy to say I just finished my first year in NOVA's RN program, it is a great program, if you have any questions just ask....my advice right now is relax and enjoy your time because there is a lot to do this summer to get ready for the fall when you get accepted!!! :-)

Hi '

This is Lina 123. Has anyone receive any news yet on admissions for 2013 fall. When should we expect letters to be out?

Any information? The suspense is killing me.

Hi Lina 123,

I’m also an applicant for the traditional program. I called the nursing division yesterday, trying to find out more about our applications and they told me they had received about 200 applications! I asked if they knew how many will get in and they told me they don’t know yet, but I suppose that the same number of applicants as last year’s. They said they rank students on a point system based on GPA, TEAS scores. And, that acceptance letters will be sent out in a week or two from yesterday. I’m just praying that the wait is soon over for all of us.

Good Luck,

Jessica

Jessi_o, THANK YOU for sharing the info you found out. It is nice to know that I am not alone in my suspense...

Did they specify whether they will email or mail letters? I am just wondering if I should continue to obsessively stalk my mailman or my email ;)

Oh well, at least we all have each other to get our concerns out!

Tricia328,

Judging by what I've read about last year's accepted, they said they send out both e-mail and mail letters, but I supposed they include all the package information in the mail letters such as orientation dates and background checks, etc... It's nice to have someone else to share with you the same experience! And, I don't blame you on the stalking part; I do that every day ever since I sent my application on May.

Hopefully this wait is over soon, and we all can start our nursing journey together J

If you have more questions, please feel free to ask. I know some of this information because I've read the posts of last year's applicants, Class 2012.

Take care,

Jessica

I did that too! They were so supportive of each other it was great. I read the year before that as well. Definitely helpful. I think our application was due a week after last year's group, so we will probably find out about a week after they did. Maybe...

Over analyzing here. Oh well!

Last year we got an email on June 6th with the letter attached that has all the directions on what you need to do before classes start and then I got the same letter in the mail about a week or two late....Hope this helps!!

Good Luck to everyone.

Thanks, LPN-RN2012! I remember reading your comments from the previous year's thread! You are sweet to help support us in our emotionally stressful times!!! :) It's comforting.

How has your program been so far?!

I remember how very stressful it was waiting so I am happy to help in any way I can. We have a great class and it really helps to have other people in the same boat that you can talk to!! The program is really good, it is not easy by any means it takes a lot of work on your part to be successful but every teacher I have encountered want the best for their students, my best advice is to stay organized and on top of assignments!!

Ohhhhh my goodness. I nearly had a heart attack because I saw a letter from NVCC in the mail, but it was just confirmation. It now says that we won't hear anything until FOUR weeks after our May 21st deadline, when originally it was three. I know that even four weeks is not a ton of time to wait, especially compared to other people's wait times, I am just being impatient and dramatic! An extra week to wait feels like an eternity! :coffee:

The NVCC nursing program does not have to notify applicants whether they have been accepted or not until June 21st, 2013. Those who have been accepted will then have to attend a student orientation session this summer. Last year it was held on June 26th, 2012.
