Hello all! I am applying to Riverside in Newport News in a few weeks, and I was wondering if anyone else on here is doing the same or have done so? I am even interested in hearing from those that are in the program or have graduated. Does anyone know how competitive it actually is? I was told that 32 spots will be filled and I do not know how many normally apply. My gpa is not as strong as I would like it to be, but I am taking the TEAS V on April 24th and I am hoping to get a high score. If you are applying, what is your gpa and test score? If you are in the program already, what was your gpa and test score and do you love the program. This is my first choice program and I really really want to get in. Any information any of you could give me would be helpful and appreciated! Thank you!

Once all my pre-requisites are done, I will be applying to Sentara and Riverside. Sentara is my top pick because it is a 2.5 year BSN program. Maybe I will luck out and by the time I get all the mandatory classes completed, Riverside will have their own BSN program.

Yeah I am applying to both of those. I feel like I'd rather go to Riverside but if by chance I got into both and had to choose, it would be Sentara because it is closer to me and a BSN program. But I'm hoping I just get into Riverside...kinda hahahaha

Sentara was my top choice so that I could get a BSN. However, I changed my mind last August and decided to do the LPN program and then bridge to the BSN through Sentara. Once I visited Riverside and realized I only needed 1 more class to be able to apply to the RN program I hopped on it,lol. So Riverside is my only choice and once I'm done with the other pre-reqs, I'll apply to Sentara for RN-BSN.

I just looked over the application requirements, I am only missing A&P 1&2! I am closer than I thought! Riverside count's HS chemistry, and it turns out I took HS Chem, I didn't remember it at all, so when I got a copy of my HS transcript and saw I got a B I was stoked!

Awwww yay!

My application is being mailed off tomorrow!

Exciting! I'm going to be cutting it so close to the deadline (and I live so close) that I'm going to drop it off as soon as I take this final and receive my transcript! I wonder how long it will take for us to know if we got in or not. Also, I wonder if the interviews are in person or over the phone. I believe my friend told me she had a phone interview when she applied.

I hope it's in person! Maybe they let us choose? But I talked to the admissions recruiter and she said since they have to get everyone tested and interview the decisions would be known late June or early July! Not soon enough!!!

Awww man, I possibly won't know until July...boooo! Well it is May tomorrow so I guess it will be here before we know it!

That is true! I hope I get my call for an interview soon :)

Hi Kelzfuturenurse,

What study guide did you use to prepare you for the TEAS exam? Thanks.

I used the ATI study guide and all of those practice tests (online and in the book). I also used McGraw-Hill's book with the practice tests but only took a couple of those.
