IN REFERENCE TO ANGEL0411'S POST: I know you posted this awhile ago, but I am interested in attending Global for their RN program. I am confident their program will become NLNAC accredited as well due to the fact that their LPN program is.

Do you take the day classes? I'm interested in what the schedule is for them (i.e. Monday-Friday 9-3, etc.) Also I read somewhere on here someone saying there's a wait to get into night classes for the LPN program, was this the same for you?? Lastly how much is the tuition for the RN program? It showed how much it was per credit hour on the website but didn't give an actual tuition amount like it did for the others. I would need to take all the pre-reqs. And is getting in difficult? Thanks for any help!!
Yes, I take classes during the day...now. When I first started with the prereqs last semester the classes were in the evening. A&P and Micro, Wed an Thurs from 2-6. The other prereqs...English, Psych, Sociology I had taken, but they are in the evenings too. Now, I go to class Tues morn for 2 hours and Thurs and Fri for 4 hours...so the schedule is definitely possible to handle ..you can take as many or as few classes as you can handle/afford. I started in Sept 08 and I will graduate in July 2009 ( I got behind because I was pregnant and had to go on bedrest), but if you keep up with the curriculum graduation is 15 mos including prereqs.

I am not sure about the LPN progam, but my teacher said the LPN class was full for the first time, so their may be a waiting list. There is no waiting list for the RN program.

The total price for the progam is $25k including the prereqs. It's not hard to get in..you just have to take an English exam that is 2 hrs or so, pass the bg check and get 2 reference letters. After you get in is definitely the difficult part. I never thought school would be this difficult. The minimum passing grade is a B. If you get anything below you fail and have to repeat the class. People think because it's private it's easy..WRONG. You definitely earn your degree. They are also starting a BSN program this year.

You can find a lot of details if you download the RN handbook on their website..with the price, all classes, a calendar..etc. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks! Can you guide me where to go on the site to find the handbook?

So since you pay per credit hour you can spread your classes out as you wish? That is great. Have they mentioned when they will be eligible and/or receiving accreditation for the RN program?

GO to current students...academics...adn handbook. Yes, you can spread them out and if you speak to your advisor she can tell you the best way to do it so you keep the classes together that will advance you to the next level.

In order to get accredited you have to have 2 graduating classes and since the program is so new, they have only had 1. The 2nd class will be graduating in July so they should be accredited this year some time. I have no doubts that they will be accredited becuase their standards are really high. They have a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX an even if though they are strict the teachers are really accomodating and willing to help.

The Virginia Board of Nursing website gives the NCLEX passrates for all nursing programs in Virginia at http://www.dhp.virginia.gov/nursing/nursing_edprogs.htm.

The NCLEX passrate for at Global for the first 2 quarters of the year (January-June 2008) was 67% (6 of 9). This makes them tied with 3 other schools for the lowest passrates in the state for the first half of 2008. Granted they are a new program, but 6 passes for 9 students who attempted is not the 100% that Angel was quoted.

This website will also give you the passrates for all BSN, ADN, Diploma, and LPN programs in Virginia. This data is directly from the State Board of Nursing is can be viewed an an impartial source of data. Be sure you also look at the # of students taking the test as well as the passrate.

If you have any other options...don't go to the school! The Pediatrics clinical is at a day care and maternity is at the owner's clinic. The owner is a nut and the staff is incompetent. Don't sign any forms that they give you unless you take it to a lawyer first. It is foolishness at it's finest!
