Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone knows which scores on the NLN exam does Norfolk State looks at to determine if you passed? Or does anyone know what is the passiing score or what range you should be in for their nursing program? I just took the preadmission exam today and I'm not sure where I stand. They are only picking 100 students out of the 200 that tested and we will not hear anything until the end of May or early June. I'm just trying to see if I have a chance of gaining admission or do I need to try to gain admission to another program just in case. Any feedback or info would be appreciated on this matter. :)

Thanks MsbossyRN,

I appreciate the feedback. I have been doing some reading here on the site and I have seen a few people say don't go there also so I'm also looking into other nursing programs in the area. Do you have any recommendations?

I scored a composite score of 130:yeah:. I felt like I did very poor on the verbal and science and my scores reflected that. I felt that the science had a lot of physics and brought my score down due to never taking physics. Only 200 people took the test? Today I was told 600 applied to the ADN program and only 100 would get in. My GPA is a 3.1 and have taken CHEM 111 (A), Chem112 (A), Micro (B), Anatomy 1 ©, and Currently have a (B) in Anatomy 2. I fear I will not get in.

Score DI AD ALL

Congrats on your score :yeah:. At least you are in the 90th percentile and you will more than likely get in. I'm fearing I will not get in so I'm looking into other schools as a backup just in case.

What was your score and are you a transfer student? I was told 600 turned in applications, but did only 200 take the test?

My composite score was 121 which made me in the 82nd percentile . I'm a transfer student from TCC. I'm not feeling too hopeful about getting in. The verbal and science was really hard. We were not told how many turned in applications, all she told us was that 200 were taking the test and only 100 were being selected for admission. In the end I will still have my backup school to apply to so hopefully I will be in nursing school soon :).

I'm a transfer student as well. People sitting next to me got below 100 and several other people I saw did too. I believe you have a good chance.

Thanks for that info. I wish you well obtaining your nursing education. If you don't mind keep me updated when you get notified of your acceptance and I will keep you updated when I hear something also.

I would go for it at NSU. If they're only 200 people who took the test you have a 50% shot and I assume you have all of your sciences completed. Although they have one of the worse pass rate for passing the NCLEX I would still try because It beats waiting around another couple months.

Yea their NCLEX pass rate is not that great and that concerns me. Why are their students not doing well on the NCLEX? I have heard that at Norfolk State there is alot of self learning which is a little disturbing to me. I'm ok with a little self learning however when you are paying for your education you should expect to be taught and be taught properly.

Did you end up applying?
