Hey.. does anyone know what month the new class graduates in? Is it January 2013 or later?

For those of you that got into the RN program for August, how were your grades, and teas scores, I am applying for the Nov '11 RN start date, I'm taking my pre-reqs right now, and have A's in both math and comps, well I hope it stays an A in my math, my final is tomorrow :uhoh3:. Chem starts next week. I'm really worried....my TEAS scores weren't the best, I'd just like to see what someone who was accepted , how they scored. Any input would help

Thanks :)

The lowest grade I got was in chemistry ... that was a 97 I believe I aced math and computers and my teas were high 80s low nintys I don't remember the exact numbers ... anatomy is tough LOTs more studying than I anticipated

I have never been good at Chemistry, last time I had chemistry, was 14 years ago lol How is the Chem class?? I'm so desperate to do well in the class, I went out an bought the idiots guide to Chem lol (borders was going out of business)

Pretty easy its just the basics

I know this has been asked a hundred million times, but here it goes... I know ODU acceptance is ridiculous and you need like a 3.8 or something... what is the average GPA at MCI? Is MCI as competitive as other schools? Also by looking at someone elses schedule, I do not need any of the courses from the first semester (maybe one), how would that work? I found out the next start date is Decemeber 19... would it be feasible to try and apply for it? Are referece letters still required?

I have no idea how MCI does their GPA thing. Have you taken the pre-req's? Chem, Computers, and Math.. if so, did they transfer?

As for the first semester you're in nursing school- don't count on your classes transferring. They may not.

My advice: go in and take their admissions test- it's not that hard. If your counselor tells you you are competitive for the RN program you are. Trust them. If they try to talk you into the LPN program, you're not competitive for the RN program.

As for applying for the 19th.. in my opinion this is not feasible. You've missed a few mandatory meetings, your financial aid isn't ready, and they probably already conducted interviews and began the selection board.

The process for applying is you make your appointment and have an initial interview with a counselor. This is basically a talk session where you're given information on cost, classes, etc.. Then they have you take the admissions test. You then meet with financial aid to make sure you can pay for the program. I advise you have your FAFSA already filled out and sent to the school. Also have all your transcripts on the way.

After this you come back for a second interview (it's sort of an interview, but mostly just talking with your counselor. They're super cool). You also see financial aid again. At some point you have to turn in letters of reference and an essay. Once you have all your loans in order/paperwork submitted there is one more interview with the director or assistant director (both are incredibly nice so don't be nervous). At some point there is also a mandatory meeting where you fill out your background check and receive information on how to obtain a drug test. A few weeks after everything is submitted you'll get a call with MCI's decision.

But! I recommend making an appointment with a counselor immediately. Also, the admission process may be different for you than it was for me.

If your classes like A&P1 or 2 micro English ect. Transfer then you will just be on break pretty much until nursing concepts 1. And your tuition should be a bit lower as a result. MCI is an accredited school so they rate their GPA scores like any other accredited school (not sure what you are asking there really) as far as acceptance they base it off of your TEAS scores and your performance during pre-reqs as well as a paper. I know the next start date for our mod is 12/19 but I don't believe that there is another program start darte until January (4 per year)

Hey, I've been scouring this site for info on this program! I have my initial appointment with a counselor at the beginning of the year with hopes of applying for the summer program in Virginia Beach. Any advice? or other fellow prospects for the new year? I have been stressing about this 25 days and 25 nights/weekends business, are they pretty upfront with you on what your chances are? How many letters of reference do they require?

You'll need three letters of recommendation. The counselors are pretty upfront, but it's not like they can say "you're in for sure." It's ultimately up to the directors. Don't stress, just do your best and stay positive!

Hey, I'm interested in going to MCI in Virginia Beach, Va. I currently go to a community college. I want to get in the RN program. I have already visited the school and talked to an administrator. I have to go back and take the TEAS test. I was just wondering is it worth going to that school? Do it really take 18 months to complete?

amber430,

I'm currently attending MCI for the RN program. I think it is definitely worth it. I am half way through the program, and all I can say is that it is possible to complete in 16 months (day classes) IF you don't fail any mods. When you fail a mod you have to wait at least 3 months till the next cycle of classes begin. It's expensive, but if you're trying to get from point A to point B in as less time as possible, it works out.
