Kaplan Nurse Admissions Test

U.S.A. Virginia

Have any of you taken this test? JSRCC just switched to it from the NET, and I was just curious what it was like.

I just took it a couple of hours ago! I did really well on it, which surprised me, since I had no idea about most of the science stuff (haven't had NAS yet). The math portion is fairly basic; the English portion is difficult; and the science portion is probably easy for those who have had some recent bio/chem/A&P.

Hi!

Have you taken any other test? I was wondering how it compared to the Teas? Also, did yhe calculator help alot with the math? And did you study the Kaplan study guide? Any suggestions for preparing? Sorry so many ????'s!

Thank you!

The only test my school requires is the Kaplan, so I didn't take TEAS. I actually didn't prepare much for the test--which probably wasn't a good idea--but I had just taken a math and English reading/writing placement test, so I felt comfortable taking the Kaplan based on my placement scores.

I would definitely recommend a study guide to help prepare for the reading comprehension questions. I did terribly on the science section. If I had it to do over again, I would wait until I'd completed at least A&P I.

Good luck!!!!!!!

Just an FYI for any of you who may need to take this test...don't bother buying the study guide they have. I took the test this morning, and there was not a single math problem like any that were in the book. Make sure you know fractions, and you'll be fine. Of 28 math problems, almost all of them were some type of fraction. Also, know some drug dosage calculations. The reading/writing sections weren't that hard, but those have always been good subjects for me (I can't say the same for math!). The science section wasn't that bad either, but it will be a lot easier if you have had A&P.
