Chamberlain college of nursing...arlington campus...

U.S.A. Virginia

I am looking into going to chamberlain at the arlington campus this fall...anyone else looking here or know much about the school? I just started looking into it and might go take a look around the school next week. I have heard mixed reviews about the school in general. Some love it some say the pass rates are low and it's a waste of money. Just trying to get a feel for what the school is really like. It's really the only nursing program close enough to me that is not a 4yr program. I LOVE the fact that they have a 3yr bachelors program which is what i had been looking for. Any advice/comments are appreciated!! Oh also any comments on the entrance exam?

I'm going crazy waiting to hear from them! It will be two weeks this Friday since I've taken my HESI. How long did it take you to hear back on whether or not you were accepted?

I took the HESI on a Tuesday and heard back the following wedesnday. I got an email saying I was accepted. Then the next day I got a letter in the mail.

So I was freaking out for nothing! Got the call from my advisor this morning, I'm in!! I go in next Wednesday to start everything, she said I would be talking to financial aid, going over my transcripts, etc. Woohoo! :yeah:

Sammy04, did you have any problems transferring credits in? How many did you transfer in if you don't mind me asking?

Congrads!!! 39 of my credits transfered and I'm waiting to here back about another class that I took which would total the transfer credits to 43. I already had that appt it's really exciting. They gave me a layout of my schedule each semester. I will be graduating December 2013. Now I'm just waiting for classes to open to register. Have you taken a lot of the gen ed classes?

I have A&P but I don't have chem or microbiology. I have taken English classes, intro to psych, developmental psych..I have some of the gen eds done but I know I will have to take a few more. I've had a math class, but it wasn't algebra so I might have to take that. I also see they require an economics class. What will you be taking the first semester?

This semester I'm taking A&P 142, 2 nursing classes and chemistry. That completes the gen eds for me. The next semester it's all nursing classes and I start clinicals.

So I had my appointment today. I still have to get syllabi from my last school for transfer credits that would be equivalent ENGL 147 Advanced Composition and NR 228 (Nutrition, health and wellness.) If all goes well I will have a total of 35 credits transferring. My first semester is laid out for me to take math 114 (algebra), chem 120, NR 101, Bio 242 (micro), and NR 222. It shows all nursing classes on my second semester too, and clinicals! :)

The only thing I'm a little confused about...how exactly do we go about signing up for classes once registration opens?

We might be in some of the same classes then for clinicals. She told me she would call everyone and register them or maybe we go online. She told me that registration doesn't begin until the third week of September.

Hello Girls!

I've been a student at CCN Arlington campus for a year now and love it! They have just revised the registration process for us. Now it's first come first serve you go on campus to sign up for your NR classes, all gen ed classes you do online. I'm not sure how they will be selecting clinical assignments from now on but you will know when and where you are going by like the 3 or 4 week of the session! I hope you girls like it, all the professors are wonderful and so knowledgeable. Tips: Always come prepared, do all your work, ask a ton of questions, and READ READ READ your textbooks! :) Good luck :)

Okay, now I'm beyond confused about signing up for classes, lol. I do recall my advisor initially saying something about having to physically come to the campus to sign up for classes, but when I had my first meeting after I was admitted I asked her and she said no, you can just call and do it. And then she called again on Friday to let me know some more of my credits had transferred, and said the girl from financial aid would be calling me next week to sign up and take care of the initial registration fee. The 12th is the first day to sign up, right? Since its first come first serve do a lot of them get full right away? I hope I'm still able to take the classes I need, I don't want to have to pay for any extra semesters just because I couldn't get into a class that was full.

Okay don't be confused! Since you are new this is your first semester here just do whatever your advisor tells you. Are you taking gen eds or maybe NR 101? Sign up starts today on campus but if I were you I would just call your advisor and sign up that way. The first come first serve simply applies to the preference of which days or times you would like to come, not the availability. You will always be able to get into a class the first come first serve simply applies to if you get there first, you get to pick which day and time you would like to take that class. You won't ever have to come extra semesters due to classes being full. :)

Thanks for the help Kinsey! Now I just wish I could get a hold of someone at the school...every time I call, the person I need to talk to is 'with a student' or 'busy,' which I understand, but there has to be some way to communicate better. :(

I just feel like they should be providing me with more information about how to do this stuff. I'm ready to pay my registration, and I need to know how much more $$ I owe so I can start applying for a private loan.
