Central VA Nursing School Question

U.S.A. Virginia

Published

I am looking into going back to school for my nursing degree in the spring. I live in central VA (Fluvanna County) and work in Glen Allen. Does anyone have any advice on which colleges to apply to? PVCC is closest to home but with working, it would make attending difficult. Also, has anyone attended the online Commonwealth Nursing program? It looks like the closest "home" college would be JTCC and I wasn't sure how often I would have to be there onsite. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

you can apply to bon secours memorial school of nursing or J. sargaent reynolds, or vcu has a nursing program

Thanks! Do any of them have an evening or weekend program?

yes, bon secours i know does....but you have to apply by june 1st for fall classes...they only do night classes in the fall....so you'll have to apply by next june 1st.

j. sarg has night classes....thats what i'm doing this fall...they also have alot of online classes. thats your best bet if you are interested in getting started now....or you could always take a few classes at j. sarg and then apply to bon secours so you have some classes out of the way. the bon secours program is difficult and the regular classes (math, english, sciences, etc.) are taken at j. sarg anyways....and then you just take the nursing classes at bon secours.

the only good thing about bon secours is that they'll cancel your loan if you sign a contract to work at bon secours for 2 years after school....

i'm going to apply for financial aid and loans and i should be fine....if you cant pay for school, usually they'll give you alot of aid....also you can get a stafford loan and they'll (gov't) pay the interest on your loan until your finished with school and then after 6 months you have to start paying your loan down.

i'm not sure about vcu....havent checked into that

good luck!
