Anyone waiting on acceptance letter from Tidewater Community College VA

U.S.A. Virginia

Hi Im a student at TCC and I submitted my application in middle end of April, just wondering how long it normally takes to hear something, I am waiting everyday for the mailman about to drive myself loco. Is anyone else waiting for there letter from TCC. Please share with me.

I called on Friday (July 24th) and the lady who answered the phone said that they were in the process of mailing the letters. On Monday I called again and asked if they mailed them on Friday, then I should get it by lets say.... Tuesday.... and she said yes, but they do lie on the phone too, or so I have noticed. I'm a whole 20 minutes away, I would hope the mail wouldn't take more than a day or 2.... but here we are on Tuesday and still no letter. It is really just starting to bother me.

They did mail them on Friday. I know someone who got their's on Monday. I hope that helps. It is frustrating. Apparently, the high school transcript that my high school sent wasn't official and they didn't let me know till July 16th about it. Now I am trying to find out if they got the official one and no one will answer the phone there or my e-mail. I can't believe that happend and could jeopardize all the hard work I put in for the past 2 years trying to get all my prereques done.

I got my letter! I am not sure if it come on monday or tuesday, as I was out of state. But it is here today! The thing is, the nursing program has to receive a letter from you stating that you accept the provisional admission BY July 31! or they give your spot away. I am going to drive their tomorrow so there's no mix up. I'm so excited. I'm in cohort 4 though, I really wanted to be in 2 or 3, but I'll live I guess.

Also, I had the same problem with my transcripts but they called me the beginning of June and let me know, and then never told me if they got them, even when I emailed and called them. I hope it works out for you. Good Luck!

Are you serious?! They called you!! I am so upset with this school right now. If they had called and let me know this earlier, I could have had this all straightend out a long time ago and have a letter in my hand. Thanks for the info. This process has been much more difficult than it should be.

Congratulations!!! :yeah:

hi. im from MA and my mom is thinking about moving to VA and i was hopeing to apply at Tidewater for there RN program. right now im a CNA working part time at New England Pediatric Care and i have one year of highschool left. i was wondering if there is a wait into the program because i know at Middlesex Community College there is a 2-5 year waiting list to get into the program.

There is no waiting list. You need to take some prerequisites BEFORE applying to the program and then apply with supporting documents by may 15, once you've begun at Tidewater community college and completed placement exams, English 111, Microbiology, and Human Anatomy and Physiology part 1 (part 2 also has to be completed but as long as you have microbiology you do not need part two before applying). Yu also have to complete a nursing math exam before applying and score at least 90 in ALL four parts and if you do not you must complete math 1. Once you have everything you need you apply before may 15, and wait for your acceptance letter. As long as you get A's and B's you are good to go, you will probably get accepted. I applied May 15 this year and I got into the program, I start in March. There is no waiting list that you need to put your name on, but it is possible to be put on one and get in once someone does not accept their admission or something else happens. But, it all depends on your grades, and if you do everything you're supposed to do before hand. It's really not a big deal, I got a C in A&P and still got in. Good Luck!

I thought you could have (2) of the (3) sciences to get in & apply (AP 1, AP 2 or Micro)? Is this not the case? I plan to apply early Sept. '10 for Fall '11 admission. I will have had AP 1 and AP 2 at that point and be currently enrolled in Micro.

Also, do you have to have the Math 1 completed before you apply if you don't score well enough on the test parts?

Thanks so much!!!

It is true, you only have to have two of the sciences. However, you also have to have a chemistry (unless you have taken high school chemistry and gotten a C or better in the last few years), and Microbiology not only counts as one of the sciences that you have to take, but it will ALSO cover the chemistry requirement, so I took micro and AP 1 before applying so that I wouldn't have to take all three before applying (because I haven't taken chemistry in the last five years).

And about the MATH 1, you don't HAVE to take it before applying if you haven't done well, however you have to take it BEFORE you begin the nursing classes, so if your applying by December, you have plenty of time to take the class, because you wont start the nursing program until next August or later. Its all up to you.

I was wondering if anyone knows about the nursing program uniforms, I know that you have to order them from a company but can i buy the stethescope and BPM and shoes from anywhere?

Hello does anyone know the name of the company you order the uniforms from?

Just wanted to give a quick update and let everyone know that I got back into the program and start fundamentals again second time around in march. I am ready to jump back into with both feet, I just hope I make it through this time i don't want to fail any classes, and I want to complete the program. Good luck to everyone who has started and is waiting to start.
