I just graduated from JSRCC this past May. I made decent grades and worked my tail off. The department of nursing was extremely confusing to deal with, the Director was sometimes helpful however she seemed to have a poor attitude which tends to trickle to the dept. Her secretary is generally quite rude. Very rarely was I ever treated with respect. The secretary most often talked to the students as if they were STUPID. This kind of stuff is uncalled for if you ask me. The staff was all over the place, each teaching how/what they wanted.

Overall the program has a lot (an understatement) of issues which made my life extremely stressful, unnecessarily. All in all wish I had never gone there, and couldn't wait to get out of there. I've been to a few other universities and never have I dealt with staff that was as UNPROFESSIONAL in my entire life.

From friends I have, I hear John Tyler has a great supportive staff. Not too familiar with Bon Secours.

YIKES! Anyone with anything positive to say about the program? I start this Fall, so I am hoping that there are some good parts to the program.

Thanks

Me too. I hope for all you future students they can work through their issues. If they had a more professional attitude and work out their kinks they'll be ok. Till then, just know their are better options. Nursing school is tough, but the added stress is unnecessary.

Good luck too all you trying or about to get in. Just keep your chin up and don't let their negative attitudes get you down!!!

In the RN program at JSRCC, what time were classes and clinicals and what days?

I attended Bon Secours School of Nursing for one year and did not have a pleasant experience. The teachers there were not up to par and gave information that conflicted with other things. So I feel that it doesn't matter where you go to nursing school you are going to have issues. It's just getting thru it is what matters. I just transferred to JSRCC and I am enjoying it much better so far.

I'm with XYRN2b2010, I attended Bon Secours spring semester 2009 and it was the worst experience of my life. If the school would get off their high horse, get over themselves and focus on teaching students perhaps students wouldn't be leaving the over rated program. It was a nightmare, the instructors were so into themselves and their power trips. Their expectation are ridiculous and most of them have nothing to do with your education. Funny when I started reevaluating my options I found so many students that have left Bon Secours, thrown away tuition money and time invested into the program to transfer to a better program! JSRCC nursing program may have faults (what program doesn't) but the advisor and most of the instructors seem to be interested in your progress and ultimately finishing the school and passing the state boards. Bon Secour could care less on your success! XYRN, I will see you in the spring!

I am in my first semester of the RN program at JSRCC and I love it. I hope the next semester will be as good as this one!
