Re: George Mason Accelerated BSN 2009
I've been in touch with a very helpful GMU BSN student. Though she's not in the acclerated program, she is in the program and has given me a good idea of where we're going. She said that she's heard we should expect a 7:30 - 5 schedule and earlier with clinicals. The yellow sheet in our package says we should expect 9 hours of clinicals a week during the first semester so that sounds about right. Her schedule is split up into clinicals on Tues/Thurs and classes the other days. I don't know that you can expect to be free next summer either though I guess it really depends on what session we'll be in class. I know that we were supposed to expect 12 months straight so that would put us right up until September 2010. We are even on tap for the minimester in January which will greatly shorten our holiday.
Also, she said not to worry about the TEAS since it's not a big deal if you don't do well. You just need an 80% in math but if you don't you just get remediation. The Saunders NCLEX book is very helpful for the patho classes and buy all books online if you can (much cheaper).
I'll be in the night orientation but I'll see you in the first class on the 24th!
