ECPI/MCI LPN Program - anyone?

I haven't posted here before..so it's nice to meet all of you =)
I was curious as to whether or not anyone here has gone to ECPI/MCI for their 12 month LPN program. I live in Manassas, VA so I go to their Manassas campus - however the ECPI's in Norfolk and VA Beach have programs as well. My reason for asking is that my class is the first LPN class (to start and graduate in December) for the Manassas campus..and we (my class) has had several issues with the way the school has been ran. I was just wanting to know if anyone had gone to this school, and if so - did you ever have any problems with staff, ways of teaching, rules, etc?? Thanks

we have an ECPI in our area, as well (Roanoke) but I dont go there. Just a suggestion-have you looked into an LPN program at your local community college? its bound to be cheaper than ECPI and an alternative if you are not satisified with how the program is run there.

Well, yes. I had looked at other nursing programs. However, they were either not what I was looking to do at the time (due to duration and starting time) or there was a two year waiting list for the RN program at NOVA. Unfortunately, I am in my second to last month of the LPN program so now it would seem to be pointless. Thanks anyway!!

Ecpi

What kind of problems did you face at ECPI? I am going to start in June in the 2nd class for the Raleigh,North Carolina school. A little worried, but I just cant stand to wait on these long waiting lists at the community colleges anymore. It will be much easier to bridge over to Rn at one of the comm colleges once I get my LPN. That way I wont have to wait.

Hopefully attending MCI this Sept

I am looking to enter MCI this fall. I do not have enough time to be on wait lists at the community colleges in the area. My husband is military.(Therefore we will move...again) What issues have you been having? I already know that MCI is expensive.

I start Aug 1st in the LPN program at the VA beach campus. I curious too, what kind of problems did you run into?

The VA beach campus has been offering the LPN program for a long time so hopefully they have all the kinks worked out.

They just started their first RN program and I hear the students are really having a hard time. Except fot the ones who are already LPN's. I wanted to go into the RN program but They recomended that I take the LPN first.
Besides squeezing a 4yr program into 14 months scared me enough to keep me in the LPN program. I will bridge to an RN program eventually though.

When is your orientation? Ours is not until July 29th and our LPN program (VA beach) starts on Aug 1st. No info, no books no nothing until then. I'm getting quite annoyed with them. I have no clue what days clinicals will be and I can't seem to get any info out of them. (HELLO, I'm paying them

I have to quit my FT job and find a PT job but I have no idea what hours I can work. All I know is the actual class is 8am until 4:30pm mon-fri. I think clinical hours can vary from 6:30 am until 11pm, just wish I could get more info. NOW!
I hope you are having better luck then I am.

Well, my orientation is June 24 and class starts June 27th. It is an LPN program also. Sometimes it does seem hard to get concrete answers from them. I think they have to get schedules together and evaluate transcripts of everyone before they know more exact times for everyone. They pretty much want you to be totally available until they figure out what your schedule will be. I dont have to work so that hasnt been an issue for me. I wanted to go on vacation July 4th weekend and needed some info on scheduling to arrange my flight and all they kept saying was 8-430. Well i have Eng, A&P and Dev PSY already, so I figured i might not have a full day for part of the program. All they said was that they have yet to evaluate transcripts and that I may not have class in the afternoons since I have A&P already. Hopefully we will both know a little more at orientation.
How many students did they accept in your class? And I am not sure about clinicals yet.

I have no idea how many students will be in my class. I hope that the class will be rather small but I'm not sure. I have never taken any classes like A&P, bio, etc. I hope I dont get in there and find out I'm the only one with out them. they didnt ask if i had taken them or tell me that i needed to. All I have to do is take basic math for 10 hours.
I fell like I should have been given better information. I hope I dont end up regreting going to school there.
Have you went to get started with you physical and shots and stuff? I go on Thursday to start mine.

i live in the virginia beach area. I have heard horrible things about MCI. You should research them in detail before you decide to go. From my understanding their pass rate for the boads is 51% (the past year). One of my instructors said the only requirment to get into the school was to have a temp of 98.6. it is very expensive and not a lot of clinical time. I go to Sentara school of health professions. It's very demanding and a hard curriculm, but it's worth it. Sentara owns just about all the hospitals in my area so we have a great deal of clinical time and the school is very respected. It is very competitive to get in and even harder to stay in, but they have almost a 100% pass rate for the boards. I believe it was 98% this past year and 100% the year before. Good luck to you!
