Married with a baby girl, I don't have a ton of time and have been taking online classes. I live in south salt lake but have been attending weber for the last 3 years. I have completed anatomy(B), chem 1010 (A-), microbiology (A-), english 2010 (A), human development (A), psych (A), humanities (A-), i just need patho and my QL math credit. My physiology and chem 1110 credits are in progress (current grade is A- in both. My cumulative is 3.67.
I am currently a graveyard CNA/med tech at an assisted living. I've been working my a** off going to school and working full time to get into nursing school. I don't have a previous degree but next semester (spring) I will have my Associates of science (once i finish my QL credit).
I am applying to WSU, MATC, OWATC, and DATC. I need to know what my chances are..? Anyone who has gotten into any of these programs if you could provide me with some admissions info like what your GPA was and how many times you applied it would help immensely! Oh and I applied to DATC this past cycle and got turned down (not a huge surprise to me!) I'm open to any advice as well Thanks guys
My ultimate goal is to be a CRNA and I know I am going to have to relocate which I am okay with! Just can't wait to get in a program and get the ball rolling.Last edit by crichards00 on Sep 29, '12

- Sep 29, '12 by CrufflerJJWow! It certainly sounds like you've got your "stuff" together. I don't have any useful advice to offer re: Utah nursing programs.
That being said, it's obvious to me from your short post that you definitely have a burning desire and are making a strong effort to achieve your goals. Working full time, with a young child, and still pulling down excellent grades....impressive, to say the least!
You WILL get there.
Best wishes to you and your family. Good luck!

- Oct 20, '12 by dancingostrichI was an alternate for DATC. I had a 3.3 gpa and chem 1050 and micro in progress and had to do patho. I was low in the list but somehow enough people turned it down and I got in. It was the best day ever. I applied twice before, but knew I wouldn't get in that time. Good Luck in your journey. Don't give up. If you want it, you will be able to do it.
Call up the schools and see how your last application was and they will tell you kind of where you stand.
PS I may be wrong but I think you might want to think about taking Chem 1050 or the like. 1010 only works for LPN.
- Oct 21, '12 by crichards00Westminster has a CRNA program, but the clinical sites are in Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado and you have to rotate and move A LOT. So I'd rather be somewhere where the school and clinicala sites are centrally located.
I am in chem 1110 which is good for RN. I also have 1010 though. DATC is my #1 choice. I just landed a job in the SICU at the university hospital so I am hoping that will improve my prospects!
Thank you for the replies!
