BSN grads getting preference in current economy?

I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not BSN grads are having an easier time finding employment here in Utah with the current economy than those with ASN/ADN degrees? It's my understanding that normally it wouldn't matter, but job openings for new grads seem to be more scarce at the moment and I'm wondering if hospitals and other facilities are typically going with BSN grads due to the large applicant pools?

Sorry - I don't know the answer myself but this is exactly what I want to know too! I am trying to decide which nursing program to attend - Associates or Bachelors & this answer would help me very much. Anyone there in Utah have a feeling about this at where they work at? I would bet that the hiring is going like this: new grads: places hiring BSN's over ADN's. But, they are hiring experience over no experience no matter if they are BSN or ADN first.

I don't know about specifically for Utah, but generally BSNs are preferred. I've seen in a number of posts here that people with ADNs are getting jobs as long as they have plans to immediately start a RN to BSN program. Obviously grades and other qualifications will make a difference as well. Personally, I'm really glad I'm in a BSN program as I look to start applying for jobs in the next couple of months. I would hate to think about trying to be orienting to a new job and doing the RN to BSN classes.
