I have been doing A LOT of thinking and I think for me, it will be best to forget about going through with UTA. It seems that those with considerations get 1st dibs and based on all of you with such high gpas that got waitlisted and have no considerations, looks like you will more than likely get the spots remaining when (and I'm sure they will ) open up. I applied to UT-HSC Fall 2012 and got my denial letter, not even wait-listed. That's with a 3.5 overall gpa, 4.0 sciences, 94% hesi, and 890 ct score. And it is easier to get into that school because there is no such thing as considerations either. Since UTA will not accept Intro. to Chem (and all the other schools will), I would have to take General Chem this summer and Patho & Intro. to Prof. nursing in the Fall and all this would just be in order to get into UTA which looks like a very small chance for me. I have everything done except taking the TEAS for TWU and a higher gpa with them and as a back-up I think I will apply to Tarrant Co. ADN program. I have to start SOMEWHERE by Spring 2013!!

Thank you and the same to you!

@thomasphan, I would go ahead with UTA if it wasn't for having to spend more money and time on classes this summer & fall that I only need for them when my odds at getting in are not good. I was willing to do it before because I thought I had a pretty good chance (according to my advisor). But from doing research and feedback from this thread, it looks like my advisor was 'sugar-coating' my odds. Good Luck to everyone of you and to all of you that got wait-listed, I'm sure it will work out in your favor! If I don't get into TWU, I should have no problem getting into the ADN program a TCCD. If that is route I'll have to accept, then maybe I will still get to go to UTA when I transition, It's just not meant for me now!

@nici0513, I think spring semester is less competitive. You should apply anyway and see what will happen

I heard that Spring was worse....

I've heard spring was better as well but clearly we will never know since the advisors love to play mind games! Who knows! Hope for the best, expect the worse.

    hi nici0513,

you may want to also look into el centro adn and mountain view adn program. i don't know where you live but both of those adn programs participate with uta with the pathways program. for anyone that has not completed the uta bsn prereqs, the adn program will work with your schedule and let you complete those classes while getting your adn. once your adn is complete and you are an rn, you will automatically be accepted into the rn-bsn bridge program with uta...and it's only an additional 13 months.

i have been accepted to navarro's adn program. i am also applying to the mountian view adn program (deadline to apply for fall 2012 admission is june 7th!) as mountain view is closer to me. i missed the el centro deadline for fall, and they require an additional prereq that other schools do not....hprs (specific to only the el centro campus). i have heard wonderful things about el centro also, you get to do clinicals at all of the major dallas hospitals and they have a special partnership with methodist hospitals.

just so everyone knows (in case you didn't already) the mountain view adn program is new, this will be the second year for it. they only accept 40 people but since it is still kind of unheard of (until now ....your chances are pretty good. check it out!

Thanks rubyredd83!! I'm looking into it right now! I would love to get in a program in the Fall since I'll be done with all my pre-reqs in like 2 weeks! We made an unexpected decision to move to Ft Worth at the end of May to be closer to my mom to help with the kids while I finish school and that's why my plans changed. It was too late by apply to all the Fall start programs by then, but I'll check this out!

I have always heard that their are generally less applicants in the Spring. I think since the AP BSN online program started that the number of overall applicants have significantly increased even after they "weed" applicants that really don't qualify, there is still a huge applicant pool.
If nursing is what you really want to do, then I think it is a good idea to apply to other programs and not just UTA.
Is anyone planning on attending the info session in May?
