UTA Spring 2013

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

Hello everyone! Just wanted to start this thread for anyone planning on attending UTA's nursing program in the Spring of 2013.....

I am working on the last of my pre-reqs right now at TCC, but I plan on attending UTA this fall to take Intro to Nursing, Patho, and Pharm... Anyone in the same boat???

I took my sciences at a different school as well. I was trying to be as economical as possible!

I wish most people from the waitlist will be called :"(

Hi All!

Not sure if this has already been asked, but how many of you that applied to the UTA AP program are partnered, and with which hospital? I am partnered with Parkland - I heard back from my advisor today, but she didn't give me much info - just said to hang in there and that "the waitlist is a good place to be". I am planning on retaking A&P I and Chem (A&P through UTA and Chem through Dallas County) to boost my GPA. A's in both will bring my Science up to 4.0 and overall to 3.8.....I really hop to get in - I plan to re-apply in June for the January start......anyone else with similar plans. Just trying to get an idea of where I stand!

This waiting thing makes me crazy!! I am so impatient:uhoh3:

No, unfortunately I did not. When I went back to school Jan 2011 I did not know much on the UTA program and how important that would have been. I took everything at Navarro college here in Midlothian. I have taken Intro to Prof. Nursing and Medical Term. at UTA now. I will begin Patho and Pharm on May 14th.

Are you taking patho and pharm at UTA? I start then too

@rubyredd I am sure you will get called off the waiting list with those stats!

@mphillips - You would have to have Chem and AP 1 done before June 1st to have it count for Spring 13...those grades would count for Fall 13.

@mphillips, I am partnered with Cook Childrens. Like @svh040789 said, any courses not completed by June 1st won't count towards your GPA for Spring 2013 admission or thats whatmy advisor told me anyways. It kinda stinks that there isn't anything that we can to do help make ourselves more competitive for the next go round. Is anyone partnered and didn't get in or waitlisted? It kind of seems like everyone who is partnered and doesn't get accepted, goes on the waitlist.

However, if you are applying to other schools like TWU I believe their date is September 1...

I have been doing A LOT of thinking and I think for me, it will be best to forget about going through with UTA. It seems that those with considerations get 1st dibs and based on all of you with such high gpas that got waitlisted and have no considerations, looks like you will more than likely get the spots remaining when (and I'm sure they will ) open up. I applied to UT-HSC Fall 2012 and got my denial letter, not even wait-listed. That's with a 3.5 overall gpa, 4.0 sciences, 94% hesi, and 890 ct score. And it is easier to get into that school because there is no such thing as considerations either. Since UTA will not accept Intro. to Chem (and all the other schools will), I would have to take General Chem this summer and Patho & Intro. to Prof. nursing in the Fall and all this would just be in order to get into UTA which looks like a very small chance for me. I have everything done except taking the TEAS for TWU and a higher gpa with them and as a back-up I think I will apply to Tarrant Co. ADN program. I have to start SOMEWHERE by Spring 2013:uhoh3:!!

Just apply every schools u can!

@Nici - your exactly right! Its just ashame because you have really good grades and I don't understand why you wouldn't be accepted elsewhere but I wish you the best..you can do it!

Thank you and the same to you!

@thomasphan, I would go ahead with UTA if it wasn't for having to spend more money and time on classes this summer & fall that I only need for them when my odds at getting in are not good. I was willing to do it before because I thought I had a pretty good chance (according to my advisor). But from doing research and feedback from this thread, it looks like my advisor was 'sugar-coating' my odds. Good Luck to everyone of you and to all of you that got wait-listed, I'm sure it will work out in your favor! If I don't get into TWU, I should have no problem getting into the ADN program a TCCD. If that is route I'll have to accept, then maybe I will still get to go to UTA when I transition, It's just not meant for me now!;)
