You're welcome. The Spr 2013 hospitals not in the dfw area are HCA Clear Lake in Houston and Christus St. Elizabeth in Beaumont and Good Shepherd in Longview. good luck and congrats again... great stats!!!
So you get a choice as to which hospital you can do clinicals at? I'm hoping to move back to Houston.
I think we are assigned? Another student just told me that the partnership hospitals in Houston for Fall 2013 are Brazosport Regional Medical Center in Lake Jackson and Bayshore Regional Medical Center in Pasadena. Lake Jackson is 1.5 hours away from me... I live in Kingwood, so I hope I get Pasadena! (If this info is true.)

It's generally used to access the Skyscape medical software suite (Mosby's Drug Guide, Ackley's Nursing Diagnosis, etc...). The size is small enough to allow you to keep it in your scrub pocket when in clinicals. You cannot use anything bigger for this. Not even an iPad mini... I tried....
That said, you are certainly not required to use that Skyscape software. You can pretty much get the same functionality from some of the others, e.g. Epocrates, Pepid, etc. But we supposedly get the Skyscape for a good price through the bookstore.
You can do the same stuff with the actual drug guide and the actual Nursing Diagnosis handbook. But they are significantly bulkier to carry around.
If you can, I'd recommend getting atleast an iPhone or Android phone. Doesn't have to be the newest and greatest. Might be able to find one through Craigslist...
Good luck,
Don

For any of you on campus, can you give me an idea of your schedule for this first semester? I'm a planner and not having a clue how to schedule my daughter's childcare is driving me crazy. Thanks in advance.
