It is 10 for every hospital is the way I understood it from the meeting unless you were in combination with a children's hospital then together they would have 10 spots. (Ex: JPS and Cook's Children only have 10 spots available combined).

@all4faith: The clinicals are usually Fri/Sat, Sat/Sun, or Sun/Mon (mostly Sat/Sun, though)....I have a couple of friends in the program now and I don't think there is a break for spring break, necessarily....they do get some breaks from clinicals between "semesters" or before the start of new classes, but not sure that it would fall on Spring break.

    I hope this helps!
    Thanks!!

I know we've been through this before, but does anyone else feel almost life their life is "on hold" right now? When people ask what I'm doing now, I'm tired of telling them that "I'm waiting to hear about nursing school" because I feel like that's been my response for so long now. Ugh, I just don't have patience and I know that's not good. Guess I'm just feeling down about the whole "waiting" thing.

lharvick - Do you by chance know how many spots they had for Methodist Mansfield? Just wondering as I know that hospital continues to grow and expand. Thanks!
MelTex2012 I know EXACTLY how you feel - you are absolutely not alone - it's gut wrenching to know that you have worked so hard (grade average was NOT an issue for me) and yet you were told to "wait" - it's so hard - I read posts from some people who are getting in after applying 2-3 times - I am done with all required courses and am just "waiting" - so yes my life is also on hold and it is quite disconcerting. What to do from here - do you start something else only to have to stop that if you get "the call" - do you throw in the towel and say I'm moving on and if I get "the call" I won't answer it - it's so hard ~ I honesly don't know that "wait list" is a good thing in some ways. Holding patterns are not necessarily a good or sane thing. Sorry to sound disheartened, but I am

So who all turned in their waitlisted acceptance letter? Has anyone talk to their counselor these last couple of weeks about when calls from the waitlist will start?

I turned mine in within a couple days of being notified... I haven't had any communications with my counselor... I've never had much luck with that endeavor... ever...

    Hello,

I'm new to the thread...just found it this evening when I was looking for some information that I couldn't get from my advisors about upcoming schedules etc. If there is a "spreadsheet" of sorts in google docs can you please send it to me as well. I would like to have contact with other students for the Spring 2013 On Campus Program. My email is ashleyallisonfields@gmail.com. Look forward to meeting everyone at orientation, and I WISH I had found this thread six months ago...it would have been so helpful!

I got into the On-Campus program with a 3.81 GPA/4.0 Science with no considerations and no parternships. I was wait-listed for the Academic Partnership program. I accepted the on-campus program because like many other students I was only able to apply to one program due to location, work, etc. I just received my update on MyMAV blackboard regarding all our required deadlines before orientation etc, and I got a copy of what our schedules are "supposed" to look like and I had a few questions. I was hoping someone might know an existing student that is in the on-campus program that could shed some light on the scheduled days that just states "Smart Hospital will be providing times for skillspractice." I'm hoping these are really only "practice" days because the schedule shows we're in class almost a full day two days and in clinical one full day/or in lab. I'm relocating to the metroplex for school/work and before I find an apartment, it would be nice to know how many days a week i'm going to have to drive to campus. I have an office across from Northpark mall downtown and one in Plano, so I need to be pretty central or find a good mid-point between work and school. If anyone lives in the Las Colinas/Irving/Valley Ranch area that has some good leads on nice but affordable apartments i'm planning on going up this weekend to start looking and I would LOVE any suggestions. Working full-time and going to school full-time hasn't exactly left much free time to apartment hunt online.

Again I look forward to getting to know everyone a little better and hopefully meeting some of you soon

    Ashley

I signed mine and faxed it in the next day and haven't heard anything either. I am hoping since yesterday was the final day to accept, that things will start moving from here, but who knows. I still feel like everything is on hold. It's just frustrating.

I met with my advisor at the end of October and honestly, she was not helpful at all! I had a lot of questions about the ranking process and if certain considerations/criteria was ranked higher than others - I just got really vague answers....She kept telling me that the waitlist is a good place to be, while I'm thinking, uh no it's not because this is my 2nd time on the waitlist and nothing came of it the first time! I knew for a fact that there were people with lower GPA's and less considerations that were accepted and it's frustrating that UTA can't provide a better explanation. I was told that people must be lying to me - why would anyone lie to make their GPA lower.....UGH! I also asked about how many people applied from Parkland overall and she said that she didn't have that information - I find that hold to believe since I have heard on this site that the hospital liaison has provided that info to students.

I too feel like my life is on hold. I am working on also applying to Baylor - of course it's more expensive....also there are additional pre-reqs required that I haven't taken, not to mention I have to retake the HESI since UTA didn't require the Chem/A&P portion. My advisor did say that since the responses were due by November 5th, they would start calling people on the waitlist the following week. Oh...I also learned that the Parkland and Children's spots are combined, so there is a total of 10 for both facilities - this is not what I was told when I applied the first time. This whole process is very frustrating and I hate to sound bitter, but I feel the pain of everyone that is just stuck WAITING!! Hopefully we will here something about the waitlist soon....Trying to stay positive

    Hello everyone!

I just moved here from NC and am looking at the UTA AP Program. Now, I have many of the pre reqs done. So these 8 week courses... How does the school do these? Obviously online... How many at a time? How long would I be looking to get these done? THANKS!!

It really depends on how aggressive you are in getting them done! Also, there are 5 or 6 week (can't remember which) History and Political Science classes through Dallas County Community College and they are online. You could probably do the Art class there too - it is an advantage to take the most hours you can at UTA, but if you are looking to move fast and spend less $$ than DCCCD might be the best option. I was able to take 2-3 pre-reqs at a time this way and work full time (I don't have kids, so I could really focus - I think it all has to do with how you map it out based on the application deadline you are trying to make. You would have to look at when classes are offered (they are not offered every registration period at UTA, but are at DCCCD) and determine if could finish by the start of the program. Good luck!

MPhillips I feel your pain for sure - I also got alot of conflicting information from two seperate advisors (they switched me mid way) - it just doesn't seem like it should be this hard to understand the process - seems like it should be fairly clear to students what and who will be considered - I don't feel like it is though. And I agree with you that why would someone be dishonest about having a LOWER GPA and yet getting in than a higher GPA not getting in - that makes no sense. My other frustration is those people who have a "job" at a hospital - it could be anything - as a janitor - absolutely no relevant work experience but they get a priority because of an employer code - but yet someone like me with years of experience who has chosen to focus on school, so am not working right now - is not considered because of "no code" - I have a hard time with that - I know it's the "rule" but still hard to swallow that they don't even talk to people or allow a resume' of any kind to see what your real life experience has been - so you could have been a UTA student without any relevant work experience, have a horrible attitude, and be a janitor at a hospital and get in over someone who has been in the field for years, passionate, eager, willing, able - and be on waitlist - ~ just makes no sense to me at all! But, I'm waiting..........and waiting......... and if I get that call - I'll jump at it LOL

I'm new to the thread. Waitlisted for the online program, spring 2013. My second time to apply. I got called off the fall waitlist to start clincials this semester but couldn't because of a family death. It does get frustrating waiting, but try to stay encouraged and motivated everybody. Don't give up. Occupy. If it is God's plan, it will happen. Until then; God, family, friends, love, peace. Those are most important. If it doesn't happen, then there's something bigger. Later you'll understand and be glad for this time in your life and the challenge. Peace...
