UTA Spring 2013

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

Hello everyone! Just wanted to start this thread for anyone planning on attending UTA's nursing program in the Spring of 2013.....

I am working on the last of my pre-reqs right now at TCC, but I plan on attending UTA this fall to take Intro to Nursing, Patho, and Pharm... Anyone in the same boat???

Cut It Out..This Site Is For SUPPORT!! Not Bickering. Everyone Has Their One Sacrifices And Everyone Deserves To Get In. You Don't Know What The Next Person Had To Go Through To Get Were They Are At. Having A's Or B's Is NOT What Defines A Good Nurse Or Person. I Understand Emotions Are Haywire But Let's Be Careful How We Say Things. We Are ALL In This Together.

Quick question for y'all! First let me say congrats!!!! I am so envious. 2nd, I work for THR as a tech. I have applied to UTA so I can start taking their online 8 and 5 week courses. When it comes time to apply to the AP program , do I need ONLY the Prereqs or do I need Pharm, Patho, and Foundations? It seems that these would be taken the semester before clinicals start but I am confused. I need 9 Prereqs and will have them completed in Dec 2013. So would I apply then, take the 3 above required classes Spring 2014 and start the program in the fall 2014? Thanks for your help!

On a side note.... Working and going to school is no joke!!! If you can work full time and pull grades well enough to get in then you should be applauded for that! Nursing is about so much more than highest GPA.

You have to either have completed OR have a plan to complete all prereqs, including Intro to Nursing, Patho and Pharm PRIOR to start of clinicals - you don't have to have them complete by application, but on the application you have to detail your semester plans showing how those classes will be timed and completed prior - hope that helps!

Has anyone in AP-BSN gotten any more information by email? Has your major changed in your mymav? I'm eager for proof that its all real!

I received an email confirmind that i already turned in my acceptance form :)

How soon after you turned it in did you get the email?

Jk just got mine! Yay!!

Two days later

I faxed mine last Tues and haven't received my confirmation email yet. I will be emailing that person to confirm :) You never know!!! As far as any other info or anything changing in My Mav, the answer is no. I was only lacking my 3rd Hep B shot and meningitis so I got those taken care of. Going to send the background check and register for BLS course too! The deadlines seem far away but they're so not!A friend of mine who started in Sept said lots of people waited until a few weeks before to get all their stuff done and it was insanity for them. Anyway, hope everyone is doing well! Am thinking of starting a Facebook page for us too....

I wonder if any of you that are partnered could answer a question for me. I am applying for Fall 2013; did I see someone say that you are considered partnered even if you are only PRN with the hospital? I have only been looking for part time positions thinking that you have to have a permanent job, this could open more options. Thanks for the assistance.

Hi!!! It doesn't matter if it's PRN or full-time. I'm a PRN employee at THR and asked the same question months ago :) In fact, almost all of my coworkers who have started the program that were originally full-time (three 12-hour shifts per week) ended up moving to a PRN position because it's nearly impossible to work that much in the AP program. So, my point is, of you can afford to be PRN then go for it for sure!!! It's nice to be able to say no to working when you have a final the next day or whatever :)
