thank you, tah0009! Did you end up doing e-books also? I'm so curious what you think if you did. I have an iPad but I just LOVE paper books (something about turning real pages lol!) But the savings is nice, and also transportability would be nice, too. Your thoughts? Advice?

On another note, is anybody on here registered for the Intro to Psych class that started yesterday?? Even though I took that 15 years ago I am enrolled in that and Med Term because I had to take 6 hours to keep FA happy...anyway, I have yet to receive any sort of info from either the prof or an academic coach. I have emailed the professor and have heard nothing. My advisor hasn't responded yet either. It is just so weird! Anyway, if any of you are in that course, let me know! Thanks!

I took it so I could apply to TWU as a back-up. The TEAS V is nothing like the HESI! For the TEAS you actually have to study in great detail in order to do well (I got a book from Barnes & Noble to study from). I studied for about 2 weeks before and still only made an 83. The average is usually around an 80 from what I've heard. Let me know if you have any other questions about it.

Hi Kels - when you say the TEAS is nothing like the HESI, can you provide some more detail? Just wondering what the material that is covered is like? Why do you feel it is so much more difficult? What types of differences are there. Thinking about sucking it up and taking it in order to apply to other schools. I appreciate your input

I've received the partner list for Fall 2013 and the nearest ones to me are Baylor All Saints, Cook Childrens and JPS. I worked as PCT for Childrens Medical Center for about 6 months several years ago and was an auditor for JPS for about 6 months after that. I figure that gives me 1 year in a hospital setting. My nurse aide certificate has expired. I am trying to determine what I am qualified for a hospital; other than positions that seem to require certification, what kind of hospital jobs have you guys received?

My understanding is that they don't care if you are a janitor. It's just the hospital code that they care about.

Hey the TEAS is much harder at least for me. For example i have been out of math for some time now, and even when i was in math i used a calculator for everything. I lost a lot of time on the test simply because my longhand math was slow. For example i made a 94 on the HESI math and a 76 on the teas math. So I would bone up on that for sure. The science is more in depth, they ask more than just biology questions, which is dumb considering i dont need to know the earths mantle composition to be an effective nurse. Its just an overall harder test. Get the books study it, get practice tests and do them, time yourself, become fluid in your math skills, make sure you refresh yourself on your grammar skills (I was out of practice on this also)

This is true - you can work anywhere in the facility, it does not have to be a patient care type position. For example, I work in the HIM Department (my first degree is in Health Information Management). Good luck!

Everything is more in depth rather than just basics in the subjects. For example instead of just addition/subtraction like on the HESI, on the TEAS you have more algebraic problems and you can't use a calculator. The science is a lot of earth science from biology. There are some in depth A&P questions too though. Like I previously stated I would definitely get a study book and study for a good 2 or 3 weeks before you take it. The books detail the components of the test better than I can remember.

As Long As You Work In The Hospital It Doesn't Matter.

I Work In The ER, Spcl Admissions...No Exp.
