UTA NURS 3425 Health Assessment to start 1-14-2013

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

This thread is for anyone taking Holistic health assessment on-line at UTA starting Jan 14th 2013. Hopefully we can get a good thread going in order to provide support for each other as we go. The more students who participate, the better it will be for everyone.

Did you all make citations?

The textbook gives you example questions that you should ask your client, so does that solicit a citation? Because then every sentence is going to have a citation.......

i think i'm gonna lose my mind during this because i keep second guessing myself.

i think i have Miss Good Luck as well....irritating.

Yes you submitted your assignments in the correct place. We had an announcement this morning on blackboard. This is the first class to submit assignments this way. We are the trial class to see how it works.

I believe you just have to reference the text under the reference section, not a citation.

Hi TxMonci,

not hard, but you do have to put in some time to study for tests and keep up with the interactive stuff on the Pearson website (worth 4% of your grade). There is a lot of material; however, much of it is familiar if you've been a nurse for a while. The tests are 50 questions in only 30 min and believe me, the time goes by fast. you have to know the answers immediately bec there is no time to ponder and consider all answers choices. i took it along with US gov and Holistic Care of the older adult. it is nice now to have those 3 classes out of the way, but i was pretty busy considering working full time as well.

if you are taking two-5 week classes and two 8-week classes plus Literature concurrently, I want to come shake your hand. can't imagine such a schedule. is it too late to re-think this?

ScarletFire,

Thanks I hope it goes well =) But I am not working full time so I have it a little easier than you did. I can't imagine taking that load and working full time. As is I am already overwhelmed but I want to be done by May!!!

mansi,

i did what middlesister did, too. just reference the book at the end for the objective section; reference the lab manual for the subjective section. BUT, if you use 5 or more words in a row copied from either source, then you have to use an in-text citation. I had to do that a few times in the first assignment.

TxMonci,

know what you mean about your desire to be done. if you want any info re: med term or US gov, PM me and we can talk there so as not to bother these girls with classes they are not taking. maybe i can provide some tips that will help you.

I hope I never get Miss Good Luck! I don't know how these highly educated people can develop such rediculous assignments and asinine instructions. They're illogical and unreasonable. My coach said that they tweak this course every semester because it is so confusing.

I am wondering what I am going to do with next weeks assignment, considering my patient does not have any of those things in her family medical history.

registeredin06,

yeah, well, this class doesn't have to be so confusing....at....all and i don't understand why it is. just give us a template on which we have to fill in the pertinent info that they deem important and that should be that! why do we have to guess what the requirements are. that is just crazy.

hummmm,

i just read a few posts on my DB and several people are either not using a reference at all, or they are using the book rather than a peer-reviewed journal article. A few are referencing incorrectly, too.

Miss Good Luck is not going to like that. Hope it is none of you.

Specializes in Nicu/nursery.

Just submitted my subjective assignment, took 3 hours! I have to finish up my objective today, sure hope that it doesn't take 3 hours, I have to work night shift tonight! Also, it does state in the text not to put the clients address and phone number in a class setting.

Thanks registeredin06!!!!

registeredin06,

tried to PM you back late last night and found your mailbox is full. hope you get a response back from the professor from 4455.

i'll check back here later.

OK. Everyone is going to think I am crazy, but can we use "Bilateral" instead of saying left and right. From looking at the common errors sheet, I cannot tell if using it is right or wrong? Working on week 2 assignments due to my work schedule between now and next Thursday. Guess we won't have much time to make any changes since we probably won't see any grades on week 1 until Tuesday. Hope everyone is well.
