UTA NURS 3425 Health Assessment to start 1-14-2013

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

This thread is for anyone taking Holistic health assessment on-line at UTA starting Jan 14th 2013. Hopefully we can get a good thread going in order to provide support for each other as we go. The more students who participate, the better it will be for everyone.

This class just seems daunting. Trying to stop dreading it!!!

rosemrn,

know what you mean, but as you said to me so many times last year, we will get through this and soon we will be onto the next one.

later.

Scarlet--yup, moved to Portland and I did that Texas Govt class!

I've taken 36 credits since July and have managed all A's, but a B in Tex Govt....which is fine by me! I will be finished in May. When do plan on finishing?

I think this class will be fun! I haven't looked at any of the material, but I am anxious to learn some useful nursing material. Assessment is an area we underestimate and frequently do on auto-pilot, so maybe it will make us better nurses, or better yet...be a good review for future assessment courses for graduate school! Hey, I'm trying to be positive now!! :)

Hopefully your positive outlook will rub off on me! Thanks for being so upbeat!

registeredin06,

You are amazing! 36 credits since July! I don't know how you did it and you moved half way across country right in the middle of everything last term. Glad you got Texas gov out of the way and i'm sure you are, too. :D

I'll finish in Aug if all goes as planned. I'm not thinking too much about health assessment one way or the other; we have to take it and I'll do my best as I always do and that will have to be good enough. It may be painful, but it will be over in 5 weeks and that will be that.

I'm sure we will be in touch as we get into class next week.

more later.

I too am starting N3425! I ordered my books what seems like a month ago but they still haven't arrived. Hopefully they will be here by Monday...although I have heard that we can get away with using other health assessment books in the interim? Anyone doubling up during this course? I have doubled up on every class so far but I am slightly nervous about this one.

Hi luna_rn

not sure why your book delivery is taking so long. maybe you saw the syllabus already (it was sent via e:mail to all of us yesterday) which says that week 1 readings can be found in the UTA library on E-reserve in case your books have not arrived by the first day of class.

not sure if any other assessment books would be ok. this is the first time i've taken just one class alone but i took the advice of some previous students here on allnurses who made that suggestion.

thanks for joining us.

Hello Health Assessment Classmates

I too am registered for this class, and have heard horrible things about the amount of work it requires. I just finished reading the chapters for week 1, Chapters 1-5 and 7, and it was very easy reading. That makes me feel a bit better. I'm taking this class and English Literature together. Hope I have not made a mistake. Over the Christmas holiday, I was able to read some of the required reading for the literature class, so hopefully that will help me out.

Glad you are with us! You will have to let me know how English lit is. I have to take a literature class sometime!

how do we know week 1 readings already?? I didn't see that in the syllabus. Good to know. I'll get started.

Specializes in Cardiovascular.

You guys will get through it just like everyone before you. It's not bad. It's just time consuming. All the best yall.

Im just guessing at what week one readings are. In the email from J Micheals, with the link to the sylibus,it states that week one readings are avialable on line through the Library. The readings she has posted on reserve in the library are Chaters 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,29,30,31,32,33. Since blackboard is not going to open until Sunday, Im just guessing that chaters 1-8 are for week one.

I just sent in my Attestation form, and i'm looking at the assignments.

What do you all think??

The readings are a bit much, but then again i'm still waiting for my textbook so reading online kinda sucks.
