Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

This thread is for anyone taking Holistic health assessment on-line at UTA starting Jan 14th 2013. Hopefully we can get a good thread going in order to provide support for each other as we go. The more students who participate, the better it will be for everyone.

I'm reading all the posts and I'm cracking up! I truly sympathize with you all. I know exactly what you are going through. It was not too long ago that I was in your shoes. Algebra driving me nuts right now too. Hang in there. This too shall pass. Good luck!!

Hi jadiva,

Good Luck?!!! :D LOL. it's nice to hear from you. glad this forum can provide some comic relief. this is the only place where we can come to commiserate with others who really understand our pain. we're in week 4, so i can see the light, but.....we're not there yet.

sorry to hear about algebra for you. wish i could help, but i didn't have to take it. have you taken N4465 (vulnerable)? wondering what that's like.

Stressing out over this genogram and ecomap. Going to try and get started on those tonight due to work schedule over the weekend. Took week 4 quiz made an 80 and proud of it. I am getting burned out on this class.

I hope vulnerable populations is not quite as time intensive but my guess is that it will be. At least it will be different information.

Hi Rosemary,

Yeah, quiz 4 was tricky. I did the genogram and ecomap a few days ago when I had time, bec i have to work all weekend, too, starting tomorrow. used MS Word and they turned out fine. if you are going to use that also, i recommend drawing the genogram out on a piece of paper first before you start the computer stuff. also, don't draw the squares and circles too big bec you will not have enough space to fit it all in.

later.

I cannot wait for this class to be over. Every week my coach seems to have changed her expectation. Week three is the first time I had a "well done." Now that I finally know what my coach expects I can go back and begin editing my assignments for the final. This class should have been the 10 week class as opposed to transitions.

I took vulnerable populations 2 semesters ago. It's not that bad. You look at the area you live in, or another area and assess what is going on in the zip code, or area you choose. I chose an area with low poverty and low crime. You drive around the area, make assessments of the population. I visited a woman's shelter, and interviewed the director. Really not that bad of a class. Get's you get out in the community.

I'm taking research next. Has anyone attempted that class?

I need to take the quiz right now :( I stayed up until 3 am to finish my objective! It was 24 pages long, OMG this class is killing me! Now, the genogram is due Monday.....

Me too! I heard that it is crazy too! You get into groups to answer research questions and if you have a slacker or someone who drops out of your group, ya'll have to catch up the slack :(

OH MY GOD THIS CLASS IS KILLING ME!!!! Suicidal ideation since the first week.

And just when you finish on assignment, you have to start on another already...you gotta be kidding me. Diggin deep....

Has anyone taken Holistic Care of Older Adults? Thats my next course....god i really hope its not more assessments.... :(

No assessments :) But you do have to conduct a life review with an elder (over 70) who isn't a relative.

Well, it could be a relative, but they strongly prefer that you not use one. If you really want to use family members, you will have to request permission from the instructor first...and he/she may or may not give it.

Rest of the class: lots of readings, lots of videos. Quizzes on the slightly tougher side though and they are closed-book. Nowhere near as bad as 3425 though.
