UTA Fall 2013

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

I thought I would start a thread for those applying to UTA for Fall 2013; AP or on-campus. I will be applying to both and am hoping to find a job at a partnered hospital before the January 5, 2012 deadline.

Did I see somewhere that our Pharm final would include questions from previous test, or am I confusing this final with another class?

Trying to study and feeling a little overwhelmed.

I went to double check my employment because I used to work for THR but switched to Cooks about 7 months ago. Here is some information I got because the advisor thought I still worked for THR before we got it cleared up.

Please be aware that THR has made changes in their employee eligibility requirements.

If you have any questions regarding the changes, please feel welcome to email:[email protected]

You will be kept in the Fall 2013 AP BSN program applicant pool. However, you will be considered “un-partnered” and considered for slots at other clinical sites. If you are accepted to the program to complete clinicals at another site, it will be up to you as to whether or not you want to accept the offer.

Unfortunately, I do not have any further information regarding this issue, but please feel welcome to email me if you have any questions regarding other issues.

I took it yesterday. It covers everything but wasn't overly difficult. I had about 8 I didn't feel comfortable answering the first time through and went back to them after everything else. Just make sure to read every question on its entirety, eliminate the ones that can't be right and then answer. There is so much information that it was very overwhelming to figure out what to study. There are only a few direct ones from the assignments on there. I read over the assignments, part if RRD 1 and skimmed through my drug templates and still did fairly well.

So they are still saying it is starting with the Fall? That gives me hope.

Lharvick- How in the world did you get on with Cooks; did you have an inside contact? I have tried and tried and cannot get even a nibble. I have an old friend that works there but don't have her contact information anymore.

It took a year of continuously applying for every job I could. I probably applied for 5+ jobs a month. Finally I got an interview and they needed the job filled quickly so they had half the interviews than normal. It was an opportunity that had to do with patience and timing. I am very thankful I got a job in the PICU and couldn't be happier. Everyone is so kind and loves an opportunity to teach me something that will help me be a better nurse. I took a pay cut but it was completely worth it! The knowledge I've gained already is invaluable. Never give up if Cooks is where you want to be.

I'm not giving up. I actually have met a few more people that work there through my church; obviously, having just met them I won't be asking for help now but maybe later if I can't do it on my own. I worked at Children's Medical Center several years ago as a PCT then had to go back to my old career as it was too big a pay cut at the wrong time. I had never wanted to work with kids, but I loved it so much.

I would check the careers page on the Cooks website today. There are a few jobs that might pertain to you.

Patho... Online.... With professor ********... How hard is this class????

Forgot I can't say names.... So a general responses I patio online will be helpful.

Hi Joshsmother, I'm taking the patho final today. This has been my favorite class so far. Finally actually asked to think. Finally asked to put all those memorizing classes to good use. Finally asked to start thinking like a nurse.

I found her lectures and video presentations wonderful. Clear, great explanations, pictures and diagrams that accentuated the information, fun study tips and the very best part was her positive attitude and cheerleading.

As far as how hard, difficult for me to gauge because it was so fascinating, I didn't even know I was studying half the time. I probably put in less than 6 hours a week.

I took NURS-UL-3366-600-PATHOPHYSIOLOGIC-PROCESSES, I know some students took another version NURS-2366.

Good luck.

I have no medical background or experience, and I currently have a solid A. (After the final, we shall see...) It is not difficult if you put in the time to study the material. Her test questions are fair. The homework is more challenging, but you are allowed to look up the answers. Good luck.

By the way, has anyone taken the Patho final yet?
