I was considering going through this university for my RN- BSN.... The school claims the program is only 13 months and 6,450 if all you need are your core nursing classes... If you need pre recs it's can still take you as little... Read More

I am also taking Research and Vulnerable Populations at the same time (right now) and I am doing well with my Research class although I hate research and I am not doing well in the Vulnerable Populations course. They require you to do a lot of work and the assignment takes sooooo long. The quizzes are stupid and have nothing to do with what you're actually reading. I have not been nervous about any other course during this program except this Vulnerable Populations class. I don't know what to do to do well.
Mzsantana if you'd like to commiserate with someone for the next 2.5 weeks email me Kimball.dunlap@gmail.com

Totally agree. The quizzes are ridiculous. I hadn't failed anything to date and the first quiz I failed. My average is horrid and the work load is way to much for a 5 week class. Even is I was taking it by itself.

Research is all group, except for the quizzes - make sure you go to the online office hours. Otherwise, it's hopelessly horrible.

this is exactly why I went somewhere else. Their service is horrible and if its a tell tale sign of how it will be while in their program, then I dont want any part of that. I have fellow RN co-workers who are in the program and they hate when they have to contact someone. These programs should be fighting for you and sounding interested you to come join them.

Any advice on Research on how the first week will be?

I've had pretty good luck so far with my academic coaches: most get back to me in a day or less.

My advisor on the other hand...well, they've improved, but it still takes a bit to hear from them. Fortunately I don't need to contact them often.

While at times it has been frustrating. Just getting in for me was a comedy of errors - they kept place me in a not current file as I attended UTA 25 yrs ago. But even with that huge snafu I have to say it has gone quickly and mostly uneventful until the last class or so. I think my problems are clearly those of the AC that I have been assigned.

Fingers crossed I survive the next week LOL then I down to my LAST CLASS!!!

How are you holding up this session? I am taking research next, has it gotten any better? Vulnerable populations has been as much work as every said it is. The papers in that class take me forever! You can make one more week! Then please update on Capstone, I am anxious to hear what it is like.

RNTriathlete, KCdunlap, chybabe, commonsense, mxsantana and others:

Thanks for all your great postings!!! I am new to this site and to allnurses and to posting, for that matter. Been researching RN to BSN programs for a while and today received my course map for UTA. Of course, I have to take both gov classes (sounds like everyone has to unless you are from Texas), but all in all it's not too bad. (I'm in CA) So far my impression with administration is not good: unresponsive to my calls or e:mails, etc; someone in admissions even sent a reply to my e:mail re: my transfer credits which was clearly supposed to go to another student! Have considered Chamberlain School of Nursing as well and they sound much better w/ regard to accepting credits and support for classes, but cost is extraordinary! $600 per credit, so it's a minimum of $20,000 for the program, w/o the cost of books factored in. Anyway, I see that most of you are almost finished, so congratulations and again thanks for all the wonderful info you have provided. Please, if anyone reading this is about to start the program, let's post frequently so we can spread the love. :heartbeat
